Does the ThermaBind 500 work well on textbooks?

You can use this to bind or repair books up to two inches thick and uo to 12 7/8 inches long. There are 3 time setting to allow repeatable control for a wide variety of operations. The machine is compatible with all thermal binding products except for Fastbind tape binding which requires a very different machine.

What accessories does this come with? I don't see anything that says what is in the box. Thanks

There are no accessories. The company sent me several covers to sample since I was buying a number of them. I would recommend that you get the ones made by fellowes, especially if you’re working on something pressing and have not used one before. Also be sure to get the covers that match the number of pages you seek to bind, it’s accurate. Overall, this machine has saved me thousands of dollars and has enabled me to do my work in-house. I highly recommend it….

Can this machine bind hard cover books?

The TB500 will work well with both hard cover and soft cover books from all manufacturers. It was designed from the outset to be a "Universal" machine because we sell all brands of thermal covers.

can it be used with the unibind hardcovers

The TB500 was set up to be a universal machine that works with all brands of thermal covers. The default 60 second cycle should be adequate for most Unibind products. You can select 120 seconds if the books are very thick or you are doing a few at the same time.

Just like a much more expensive name brand (that I used in my former library). It’s fantastic and does everything I needed it to do to start repairing an aging book collection.

Foolproof library lifesaver

I’ve been a volunteer librarian for over a decade. Everything I’ve learned has been through trial and error - and this little machine makes trial with ZERO error. It’s such a great to to have in our little library. Our budget isn’t huge, so we repair as much as we can. This helps extend the life of so many of our students’ favorite books. Definitely pick up a variety of widths of glue strips, and follow the directions provided. It works like a charm!!
