Pip and Posy are best friends - they love to play, and make things, and have fun. But just occasionally they get cross or sad, and sometimes things go wrong that are beyond their control. And that's when kindness and understanding - and a cuddle - make everything better.
In The Big Balloon, Pip is very proud of his big red balloon. But when he lets the balloon go and then it pops, he is inconsolable. Luckily, Posy has a clever idea to cheer up her friend and soon they are having fun again!
There are loads of titles to collect . . . The Super Scooter, The New Friend, The Bedtime Frog - and many more!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Vibrant favourite
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 21 July 2026*

Lovely quality books with warm short stories and vibrant illustrations , my child loves them ( aged 4 ) . Books to tv series yes but not the other way round, these have the original art style not altered … I get tired of book shelves full of children’s books based on tv shows and pretentious tv celebrities trying their hands as being authors with all the marketing they need … these are not that. Don’t get me wrong my child loves the tv show to but these are great in their own right . Great author and great illustrations .

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful tale in a great format for little ones

Big fans of Pip and Posy and this board book version is wonderful for little hands. Illustrations are bright and colourful as expected from the author and really detailed so you get so much more of the story for little ones.Wonderful tale about enjoying and losing a balloon and how a simple friendly gesture turns the whole day around.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect story for toddlers!
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 20 October 2012*

I have fallen in love with the Pip and Posy series. Not only are the illustrations fabulous - I wouldn't expect anything less from Axel Scheffler - but the story is adorable. My son (aged 2) loves this book. He loves balloons, he loves to say "balloon!" The story is simple and yet engaging. Not much text on each page but enough to make the story interesting. He is able to join in with the story and shouts out "pop!" when the balloon pops... and "bubbles" when Posy has an idea... The illustrations are so lovely that there is plenty to look at and point out when going through the book again. It's certainly a good choice for 1.5 - 4 year olds. Great for a present too!
