I've been working on recall with my puppy and we've recently dropped the long lines and things were going well. I had the Garmin on just to be safe - a bit of an insurance policy. Well, late one evening in a 5 mile deep swamp she chased after what must have been a deer. She went nearly about a mile deep in and I could track her the whole time. I chased after her but it was impassable. Watching the map I could see her begin to turn around and head back to me. I was also lost at this point except for the GPS. We reunited and made our way home. Maybe I would have gotten her back without the Garmin but the confidence it gave me is priceless. This setup is expensive but well worth it.

Recently while hunting, one of the hunters decided to go deep into the woods where he fell and hurt his leg. Fellow hunters noticed he had not returned, and it was starting to get dark. So They sent for a Search and rescue team to find him. It was the Garmin Alpha that lead them to his dog, which was right by his side. It took over 3 hours to hike to him, and he had to be air lifted out of the forest.
