This was the last item I needed in order to fill out my Klipsch home theater. I have this paired with a 5.1 set of bookshelf reference speakers and it was the cherry on top. Initial setup sounded pretty terrible due to the settings I was utilizing for the previous underpowered 8" sub I was using, a Polk Audio. It was gifted to me so...To the point, I had to spend about three hours recalling, looking up manuals and frequency charts going through various settings on the Denon receiver in order to produce the correct sound. The first setup on prior settings was super muddy and overpowering. I took the time to adjust the crossover settings and gain level and was able to get the new sub performing as was expected. It is very powerful and very heavy on presence. It sounds good throughout it's power and volume range and matches well to the reference speakers I already had completed. Highly recommended if you want very punchy, very powerful bass. It sounds really good both with media content as well as various forms of music. I would say the only down side to the speaker is it's tendency to be muddy/strong. The price this was on sale for and it's pairing with the other components on hand is solid. I read ther manual, but it didn't explain it in a manner I could understand.** A: Hi Mike, I saw your question and wanted to give you the correct answer. The phase switch determines the way the subwoofer cone ( speaker ) reacts. When set to "0" the speaker cone will move in the outward direction at the same time ( phase ) of your main ( left & Right ) speakers. When it is set to "180" the speaker cone of the sub will move inward when your main speakers' cones are moving outward. What this does is cancel out any overlapping frequencies between your main speakers and your subwoofer. When you have overlapping frequencies between your sub and main speakers you will get too much or "bloated" mid bass. Some people prefer "180" because they feel the cancelled out frequencies produces "tighter" and more accurate bass. Other people like more mid bass, so you need to listen to it both ways to find which you prefer. The same thing will happen if you hook up speakers with the speaker wires hooked up with positive & negative swapped ( positive speaker wire in the negative speaker terminal and negative speaker wire in the positive speaker terminal ). Just as an added note, the "Low Pass" filter knob will determine what lower frequencies pass through from your receiver to your subwoofer. The higher the frequency (Hz) the more mid bass the sub outputs and the lower the frequency (Hz) the less mid bass that the subwoofer outputs. You want the subwoofer to optimally blend with your main speakers and that is what the "low pass" filter knob allows you to do. If you are using a surround sound receiver and it is set for Dolby Digital or DTS surround modes receivers will normally automatically crossover the sub output at 80 Hz, so moving the Low pass knob on the sub beyond 80 Hz will have no effect. Now, if you have a surround receiver that utilizes the Audyssey Microphone system to adjust the surround parameters you will want to set the subwoofers low pass knob all the way to the highest frequency. The Adyssey system will determine what frequency blends best with your main speakers. Hope this is helpful. **Q: how many RCA cables to receiver?** A: It has two RCA jacks, but if you have only one sub out one cable is fine - plug it into the left channel for mono. **Q: The subwoofer does a cut off for 2 seconds when I turn the volumen up about 50%, anybody knows why?** A: Are you hooked up via wireless? Or wired? I know when you turn on your receiver or amp, since I have my sub on auto, it has to receive the signal from the receiver that there are low frequencies before it kicks on. So there is a delay. Once it has a signal of low frequency, it's on. But after I'm cranking music through the sub, I am able to blast more power, volume and it has no delay. It could be the music you're playing doesn't have low enough frequencies. Adjust your receiver or amp to pass all low frequency through to your sub. Heavy heavy thumping bass. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Sub I have ever owned! *by J***P on June 25, 2017* First off I use this sub for Home Theater. I currently have a Bose Acoustimass Series IV system. I've had it for years and thought it sounded great when I first got it and didn't know any better. I noticed some serious holes in the low end, mid range and even high end frequencies. Since I don't have the time or money to replace everything I thought I could add some help to the low end. I have a Denon AVR-X4000 receiver and since it supports a second subwoofer I thought I would start with adding that. I went with the Klipsch because the price was right, the looks are extremely appealing, a 12" woofer is more than enough in my 15LX15WX10H room, and the abundance of positive reviews. Positive reviews everywhere, not just here. My setup was a little tricky but my receiver did most of the work. Audyssey took care of most everything but Bose doesnt play well with anything so that was very much expected. However, once the LFE and frequencies were dialed in on my receiver this thing rocked. I have the gain knob at about 20%, so I am sure this sub will fill sound in a room much larger than mine. Furthermore, I have set it to >50% and notice no distortion. The sound is super clear. Anything above 20% for me it started to rattle my house and scare the dogs. I tested this on several movies, but one particular scene that I like to test my subs on is in The Dark Knight Rises. It is where the Bat comes out of the alley and flies overhead of all the cops that think they have him cornered. Simply amazing sound! It felt like the Bat really flew over my house. I bet the neighbors did too. This sub displaces some serious energy. Adding this sub to my current setup really amplified the holes in my current Bose system. That's not to say that adding this sub hasn't juiced up my current home theater experience because it has! I will more than likely add other Klipsch speakers to complete the 7.2 experience. I definitely recommend this product. PROS: Amazing Price to Performance (I paid a lot for my Bose System), Very nice to look at, Lots of Power! CONS: Not really a con but some might see it as a con, the Size.
