## Description

Product Description Titebond Liquid Hide Glue, 8-Ounces #5013 From the Manufacturer Titebond Liquid Hide Wood Glue. The first hide glue to be offered in a liquid, ready-to-use form - requires no heating or mixing. Professional woodworkers use this formula for its exceptional strength, long open assembly time, excellent sandability and superior creep resistance. Craft hobbyists utilize Titebond Liquid Hide Wood Glue as a "crackling" medium to achieve a weathered look on furniture, cabinets, picture frames and other items. Its sensitivity to moisture allows for the easy disassembly of parts, a critical benefit in antique furniture restoration and the repair of musical instruments.

Review: Better than white glue for some applications - I use this hide glue for repairing the wood cabinets of old tube radios. I don't use white glue because if any excess white glue gets on the veneer then it will not take up any stain properly and will ruin the look. This is not a problem with the hide glue though. Any excess hide glue can be wiped off with a damp cloth before the glue dries and will have no bad effects on the veneer. Hide forms a strong bond with wood as long as it does not get wet and works perfectly for my old wood radio cabinets. I have also found hide glue also has a longer shelf life than white glue when once opened.
Review: Good glue - I love this glue for the guitar amp cabinets I build. Perfect for finger joint joinery. The long open time makes assembly and clamping less stressful. Joints are strong and cleanup with warm water is very convenient. Not for outdoor use, of course, but for cabinets and musical instruments it's great.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be used to glue a violin nut? Can it detach easily ? Thanks**
A: This is a very good glue. I have pieces attached with this glue over ten years; however, I don't know how much stress will have with the violin nut. But if ...it is to hold the nut in place I believe would work.

**Q: What shade of brown is this glue?**
A: It's a translucent light brown.

**Q: Does it work on engineered wood?**
A: Yes, this glue works on engineered wood. As a side note: it also works on fingers, shirts, and jeans. Be careful how much you use and where you wipe your hands.

**Q: Is this strong enough to repair a broken guitar neck, after being applied and tightly clamped until dry?**
A: The short answer is yes, this glue is strong enough for a guitar neck. The long answer is hide glue was the only glue available for centuries so it has plenty of strength. However, in this case it really depends on the orientation of the break, where it is and what caused it. 1) If the wood used for the neck is bad wood then the wood failed and no glue will hold for long2) If the break is across the grain of the wood, rather than along it, then no glue will work to hold it together3) If the break is in a location that's the wood is thin then the wood probably wasn't strong enough and no glue will work4) If the break is at a joint, where 2 pieces of wood meet, you may not be able to easily repair it; if you are able to repair it, all the old glue (unless it's hide glue) needs to be removed from the wood so you have a clean surface to glue up

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for Furniture and Cabinet Making
*by D***S on February 2, 2019*

This s a great addition to Titebond's glue family. I use a number of their other products for general wood working and construction. I also have a heated Glue-Pot and have used real Hide glue. The real stuff is great.. but... smelly, and short lived (meaning you can't keep it long after you mix up a load - may be a week or so at best. It can also be a bit tricky to use. But it has great strength and has the nice property that parts can be parted with judicial use of heat. Whereas the Titebond product is so much more useful in use. Has a relatively long open time, and working time allowing more positioning time in glue-ups! That is just super for furniture making. It too can be released with heat. It too is smelly, but much less so unless you really tick it up your nose! Please don't do that... It is not waterproof so not for boat builders unless you have a suicidal/homicidal streak. Best part... does not stain the wood, and it works very well with stains. Thus for restorers and furniture makers its great. I just received another two bottles of this stuff, and will get through it by mid next year I guess with the projects on hand. I have been successfully using it since its launch a few years back. Hope this review encourages you to reach out and try it. I don't think you will regret it. One last thing, important, don't use for structural work. The glue has a lower retention strength compared to the popular yellow carpenters glue, and as noted can be released with heat and is not waterproof! Recommended for the right applications!
