Review: Great Little Tester - This HDMI Cable Tester is terrific. It is compact enough one could carry it in a pocket, though more likely in tool pouch. The remote allows for testing of cables the ends of which are out of sight of one another. The readout is simple, readily identifying problem cables of which we turned out to have only one. What a time saver over trying one cable after another--all were tested in a matter of minutes. Well worth the money!

Nothing super fancy but does the job. I have used it for troubleshooting bad HDMI and CAT 6 cables. Works.

I had 2 50 foot HDMI cables in my wall that stopped working after 5 years. The cables were ran thru conduit and they weren't fun to pull so to make sure it wasn't a different issue, I purchased this tester. The tester confirmed that they were defective. Of coarse I checked other cables to make sure the tester worked. However, my new cables are Fiber Optic HDMI Cable 50FT long HDMI Cable v2.1 and this device says it can test up to 2.0. Unknowingly, I may not have put the correct piece at either end of the new cables because the cables are NOT unidirectional and the tester didn't react the same way as the older version cables. I tested the new cables by lying them on the floor from the source to the display and they worked fine. Anyway, great price and is very helpful if you need to diagnose cable issues.
