Review: Her across the road's cat don't like it. Not one bit.... - Update after a week's usage: No cats caught on our security cameras since day after installing. If it were just a couple of says, I'd say coincidence. After a week, it has to be this little repellent gadget, which is doing its job. So happy. I won't have to change the batteries in the cameras every few weeks now. Still haven't decided where to put the third one though. Observation based n 24 hour's usage so far. Bought these after getting really xxxx'd off at the cat from across the road triggering our security cameras at least 5 - 6 times a day. Bought the 3 pack and installed 2. We have a long thin drive and I put one at each end, setting the sensitivity to medium and the frequency to 5, to scare off cats. Well, the offending feline don't like. It don't like it one bit. Up to today, it slowly walked up and down the drive, taking it's time and almost daring us to come out and scare it away. It's like it knew it was being filmed and just didn't care. This morning, we captured it on the cameras and it shot through the drive like it had a lit petard up it's you know what (Before anyone shops me to the RSPCA, I am guessing. I have no experience of cats, or an other living organism, with lit petards up anywhere, OK? It's just a figure of speech) Anyway, it clearly didn't like whatever it was hearing because, both coming and going, it couldn't vacate the drive fast enough. Hopefully it will get the message soon. Anyway, it seems to work a treat, so I would definitely recommend this if you're having cat problems. Now, where to put the third one?
Review: New packaging same quality?? - We have been buying these cat carers for a number of years now and we always review again each time we reorder. We find that these scarers are a deterant in our wrap round front, side and back garden, noticing when the batteries run out and not spotted the cats start to take their chances again leaving their calling card! Reading other reviews some cats walk past them. We wonder if the scarers need the settings upped, or maybe like humans some cats have hearing problems and would walk past a pneumatic drill without a flinch. These cat scarers require some assembly as the ground spike needs to be attached. This is the most difficult part getting the screws in at what is an awkward angle and the screws are not magnetic so hard to keep them in place (but better screws than our previous order). Put the spike on first not the batteries in as the scarer will activate all the time whilst you are handling it especially if the settings are turned up. Some children can hear the clicking sound the scarers make and adults may if the settings are high. We have ours set at three quarters round and hear nothing, but the cats do as if they are picked up by the scarer activating they run so fast and can't get away quick enough let alone leave anything behind in the garden. Previous orders of this item have come in plain buff boxes in a larger buff box. This latest order came nicely packaged in 3 printed boxes and a large outer printed box displaying the contents. The contents look the same along with the more professional looking packaging. Our thoughts as the packaging has changed has any other improvement been made, but all looks the same. When we first started buying these scarers they seemed to last a long time. Subsequent orders they seem to have had a shorter life. The cost of replacing multiple scarers as they fail can be quite expensive on top of battery cost. We use 4 rechargeable batteries in each as much cheaper than the one-use type. We have a spare set so there's never really much time where the scarers are inactive. Batteries last longer in areas were the scarers are least activated and nobody walking past or kids playing (take them out) and put back later. If facing a pavement where people are walking batteries will drain quickly. Our biggest bug bear is that these scarers are advertised as waterproof and can stop out in all weather conditions. Stop out in all conditions yes, waterproof no. We have never found these to be waterproof despite it saying that on the box. Some of ours have failed over time for reasons unknown, however, we've had many that have clearly failed because water has found its way into the battery compartment where the connections and the battery tops have both gone rusty. Would suggest if watering the garden remove the scarer or water around it. All that said, these do the job they were puchased for, we are not troubled by visiting cats. However we would like to see these scarers living up to their advertised description of being waterproof which could be corrected somewhat by changing the design. If the batteries were to be inserted from the bottom or a wrap around back cover that may help to prevent leaking and rusting happening and prolong the life.

**Q: How long do the batteries last?**
A: 3-4 months assuming 10 activations per day. For the best results we recommend using Duracell Plus batteries (Not Included). There is bundle pack available if you prefer.

**Q: Will this affect other pets? Can it easily be turned off when I put them outside?**
A: You can set the sensor to 0 to turn it off. Or point the device away from where you pet is.

**Q: Will this harm any other animals?**
A: No, the ultrasonic noise is a deterrent designed to drive cats away from the area.

**Q: How quickly should the repeller become effective?**
A: If cats have a habit of feeding and fouling in your garden, it can take 14-28 days to deliver the full deterrent effect. 'Occasional' visitors will usually be stopped within 7 days.

We have been buying these cat carers for a number of years now and we always review again each time we reorder.
