Review: So simple, so easy..... - Very convenient for a quick brew, and stable and sturdy. Even has a small windshield Fuel tray is modifiable for different solid fuels/hexamine tablets of various sizes. Super thing, nothing to fail. Very adaptatable, the tray can take one or two hex tablets, if thats what you want to burn (can store those within), or the tray can take gel fuel straight in there, and filling will give a good twenty minute burn. The small gel packets are just more litter.... Also you can flatten the tray and burn twigs or use the cut off bottom of an aerosol can and make your own gel container of whatever size you like. For £3.50, you can't lose. Whether you want a quick brew on the trail,...well easy: it's not as quick as gas, but that's no issue, or a one pot cook or fry up, this thing weighs nothing and is the size, more or less ,of a pack of cards.
Review: Brilliant little cooker - What they don’t tell you is that water is heavy. If walking this is a brilliant stove/cooker if you don’t want gas. I use a variety of stoves which includes Trangia alcohol burners, BCB Mk 1 and Mk2 and a Soto Windmaster and finally an alpkit brew kit. Ok I admit it’s been my help during Covid lockdown to keep me sane. Fortunately I can walk to the countryside within 20 minutes. Anyway, all the above are excellent. The trangia 25 is too heavy for walking but great otherwise. The SOTO is probably my favourite as it’s a superb piece of engineering my only quibble is that the pot stand is separate and fiddly. The BCB crusader kits and the Alp Kit are different systems each in their own right are excellent but I find them heavy. I go for a walk for a few hours up on the hills and weight is important. So this little cooker is amazing. Not much bigger than a cigarette packet. It holds the gel fuel and as you see rustles up a brew no problem at all. Finally it fits in my pocket with my fire steel. Cheap and easy with my BCB steel crusader 1 cup. Edit. The fuel is dirty and left a sooty residue which I cleaned off with Brasso. I wouldn’t try and cook anything either but for a quick brew it’s fine.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I cook ration packs whilst wild camping with this?**
A: hi, i would say definately yes' i have cooked everything from bacon and eggs to noodles and pasta' this is an excellent piece of kit and very versatile, i use metholated spirit as it's a clean burning fuel ' hope this helps..

**Q: Are there any alternative fuel tablets available for this that burn cleanly, without leaving soot all over?**
A: The FireDragon fuel tabs are made of ethanol in gel form, so they basically consist of over 90% denatured alcohol. You won't find a cleaner burn than that.

**Q: Can you use the solid tablets for hexi stove in this?**
A: Yes depending on which version you get there is either a flat tray or a version with a sunken channel. You can use hexi but will need to snap the big square ones in half to get them to fit the narrow channel version

**Q: Can this also be used with burning wood and pine cones? Or am I better off buying both types and swapping as required?**
A: Hi pine cones and wood should be ok but may get more soot deposit

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty good but badly affected by wind.
*by S***N on 10 September 2017*

This burner does work but I found that it was severely affected by wind even with the wind break in position (see photo...the flame can be seen coming out of the stove). With the wind break in position the burner can only be used in one setting which was too wide for a camping mug but would be ok for a mess tin or small kettle. One tablet was enough to heat a mug's worth of water in a kettle, it didn't boil the water but it wasn't far off.....the water was good and hot. I think there may be better and smaller burners more suitable to heating water in a tin mug/mess tin. I tried to use this burner with a tin mug and it just wasn't stable where the cup sits on the metal. Storing the windbreak in the burner means it rattles around which isn't appealing. The burner is ok, but if I was buying again I'd pay a little more and get a better one. Used this burner again a few times with a mess tin mug and found it to be good, got to keep it out of the wind though.
