It fluffed up immediately when I threw it in the dryer for a few minutes after opening. I laid down with it and it is so comfortable, I may not need to adjust the fill, but I can always take a little out if my neck isn't aligned correctly. Really impressed with this after my old chopped foam pillow disintegrated in the washing machine yesterday. I love the outer pillow protector is removable and washable and the fabric is so soft to the touch. In regards to the smell others have complained about, it just smells like new foam that was vacuum sealed and just needs a chance to off-gas. So the smell is present, but not intense at all, and I expect it will dissipate in the next couple of days completely.
