## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it come with a power cord?**
A: No, power cord is not included.

**Q: Has anyone tried this with synths?**
A: I have not tried this pedal with synths, only guitar. However...

In software, I have coupled synths with reverb plugins with functionality very similar to this Strymon pedal. So I can offer the following thoughts.

The Strymon Cloudburst is particularly good at long, spacious, ambient-style reverbs. The pedal sounds glorious with guitar, especially when I put a volume pedal between the guitar and the pedal so as to provide gradual swells, very much like a synth. I would think that this pedal would also sound absolutely glorious with synths as well.

Two pieces of advice I would offer, based partly on my experience with guitar+Cloudburst and partly on my experience with software synth+long-reverb. Both entail avoiding the final sound getting too dense and cluttered.

First - one of the features of the Cloudburst is the "Ensemble" mode, which adds harmonic content to the output. It sounds more like a string or voice ensemble than a shimmer-type reverb. It's been my experience that if the input has a lot of harmonic overtone content (such as dense power chords with overdrive/distortion), when the Ensemble mode adds even more overtone content, the overall sound gets a bit thick and muddy (to my ears). So when choosing a synth sound as an input, I'd suggest opting for more harmonically simple base sounds rather than something that's already harmonically dense.

Second - I find that guitar sounds that already have a lot of sustain (such as compression + distortion) can get cluttered when combined with the Cloudburst's long reverb tails. So I would imagine you'd experience something similar with a synth sound that has long decay.

Obviously, your experience and preferences dictate your music. These are just my observations and hopefully they're somewhat helpful.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Surpased my expectations
*by C***Z on July 19, 2025*

I hesitated to buy this pedal as I felt the ensemble feature has limited application and would become a bit gimmicking if not used sparingly. This is my first high end reverb pedal and it has really surprised me. What surprised me most is the first setting without the ensemble mode. I thought I wouldn't use it, but its a beautiful reverb and I find I use it a lot. The ensemble is great fun and is good for filling out spacious guitar sounds. I play in a 3 piece bass, guitar, drums, and having the ensemble on subtly, can fill out the sound. I am also using it in a dual mono chain, with the Cloudburst going to one amp. This keeps the dry signal much stronger and avoids the effect being too overwhelming. I'm considering looking into MIDI control of the pedal for things like the Freeze setting, switching between the 3 reverb types and the mix level.
