The idea was to give him something to motivate him to pull up to standing and work on his fine motor skills. My son enjoys playing with both sets and, for the price, this is the better set. However, the features of the other set make it my preferred set. My biggest complaint about the rattle set is that the suction is sub-par. The slightest amount of fuzz or crumbs causes these to refuse to stick. I end up rinsing the bottoms a few times a day to keep them adhered. These “stick” to my highchair just fine (Graco) but maybe it’s a different type of surface? Anyway, they are such adorable, durable rattles. We have a large collection of Hape toys for our kids because they are heirloom quality and not plastic junk. My 16month old also like these for the car as she holds them and they keep her occupied. Our older daughter takes a KinderMusix class and comes home wanting to play instruments so this is a fun way for the littlest sister to bond with her big sister through sound and play!
