The shaft pulls out of the handle and is reversed to use a different size bit. Each bit has a common and Phillips tip. One end of the shaft is 1/4 inch hex and the other is 5/16 inch hex. **Q: what is the length of the whole screwdriver?** A: The screwdriver is 3 1/8" long. **Q: Does the shaft have a magnet in it strong enough to hold the bits and a screw?** A: No, there is no magnet. The bits are held in with recessed balls with a spring, which holds the bits in strongly, but does not help with screws. The bits are well machined, however, so I find most screws (like computer rack screws) will sit well on the bit up to almost completely horizontal. **Q: Is it made in the USA?** A: My tool purchased 01/08/16 says Made in Taiwan.
