Will this fit and work with out taking the door off

Not possible I would say. The bottom of the door has to be cut to the correct height and angle to seat properly on the rubber strip.

How much is the space between the screw holes?

I drilled my own holes so unsure what the original ones measured at.

Can the hall carpet tuck underneath this for neat finish?

Yes but we do recommend applying some adhesive sealant to both the channels, whereas if that was applied on the inside channel, the sealant would just be sticking to the carpet and depending on the thickness, the carpet may raise the threshold at one side. Also, please note that the bottom of the door needs to be cut at a slight angle for this threshold, so the door needs to be removed. can i use on upvc door?

You have to screw it to the floor,and the floor has to be flat. On most UPVC doors the bottom of the doorway has a lip and is not flat. If you only have a UPVC door and the doorway is wooden then you should be able to fasten it to the floor.
