Question 1

What does this product filter out? is it bpa free? and is it a genuine lg product?

Accepted Answer

I have been buying for 2 year and always genuine LG branding - although I think LG have them made by one of the main water filter companies..

According to the label it is PEX - the same type of plastic used in pretty much all of the plastic water pipes that are used in plumbing and gradually replacing the old iron water pipes that distribute water in the UK

They don't specify what the filter is, but it gives the same taste as a Brita filter - so its likely charcoal based. Only removes some calcium carbonate, most of the Flouride and most particles. They need replacing at least every three months in hard water areas, and you can tell the effect is wearing off (taste changing back to unfiltered tap water) after 2 months. I do live in a very hard water area - 'Total Hardness' 352mg/l (as per most of London and South East) - check with your water company - filters do last longer if the water is less than 100mg/l Total hardness.

Question 2

The lg fridge wants the filter replaced every 6mths, anyone leave theirs in longer? only two in our household so i’m not sure we use enough water?

Accepted Answer

we do not always replace ours when the light comes on and often leave it for another few months as we do live in the house full time. I believe the light comes on more for a time limit rather than use.

Question 3

Is the FLOW marking side to be connected to tap? The picture is not very clear but it looks like FLOW marking side is connected to tap.

Accepted Answer

This is correct, Flow arrow points towards where the water will be dispensed from
