If you want good quality, no-nonsense glasses for a very bright environment (i.e. snow/beach) at a good price, look no further. I don't think you can get any sunglasses that are significantly better quality than these at any price. You'll only pay more for style and brand.Note that these are not polarized.Pros:- Good lenses without distortion.- Dark lenses - good for the snow/beach or other very bright environments.- Nicely but not excessively rubberized, so that they stay on and don't feel cold.- They wrap around your head nicely and don't let much light in from the side, and protect your eyes from the wind.- Large lenses which don't reduce your field of vision.- Very comfortable on my large head (58 cm hat band).- Great price.Cons:- They are pretty large, definitely more utilitarian than stylish. Nobody is going to come up to you saying "oh wow man where did you get these". Nope.- From the outside, these are mirrors, at least in bright light. That can be a bit obnoxious to others. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Julbo Tensing, great lens but worth it to spend more if actually mountaineering *by K***E on August 10, 2015* I have these and see a lot of them at Camp Muir on Mt. Rainier. I'll explain here why I upgraded to the more expensive Julbo Explorer. The Tensing lens is big and phenomenal, dark but crystal clear, perfect for high altitude and snow conditions. But, they are low cost due to the frame, and that is where I have issues. The lightweight temple is connected via snap-in plastic, not a steel screw, so friction not adjustable. The fatal flaw for me is that the stiff and wide plastic temple does not fit well under a hat. If it's bright enough for these glasses, then you will need a hat too. Therefore, I used these once to climb to base camp at 10k feet, but upgraded to the more expensive Julbo Explorer because those have thinner, bendable wire temples that go under a hat. Also, with the Tensing you have the hidden costs of buying a leash and a hard case, as it comes with neither, but more expensive glasses usually include both. I hope this helps out anybody shopping for climbing gear, cheers. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best thing for light sensitive eyes *by A***X on September 17, 2013* I'd give these ten stars if I could. The Spectron 4 lens is very dark (5% light transmission). The frames completely enclose your eyes, blocking reflected sun and wind, but they're still light and comfortable. I'm blue-eyed and nearsighted and must wear hard contact lenses so my eyes are extremely light sensitive. I'm used to squinting even with sunglasses, but that's all over. These are the best sunglasses I have ever owned.They seem durable (flexing rather than breaking), the venting works for me (no fogging issues) and the lenses curve enough that I lose very little peripheral vision. Style-wise they look remarkably good considering they're virtually googles. Of course if you're not blessed with a fat head like I am there's probably no avoiding the bug-eyed look.The one negative is they don't come with any extras. To keep the price so low, all you get are the glasses and a drawstring bag that doubles as a lens cloth. A lanyard or retention strap would have been nice because nothing after market will fit the unusual temple design.That said, these sunglasses are an outstanding value.
