Review: Perfect for charity shop testing – Reliable and great value! - I bought this 12-pack of desertcart Basics C-Cell Alkaline batteries so that I could test various donated electronic equipment for a friend who works at a charity shop. These have been absolutely brilliant. They do the job perfectly with no issues whatsoever! 👍 Pros: Excellent Value: At roughly £0.78 per battery (for the 12-pack), these punch well above their weight. Looking at other helpful reviews, the consensus is right: they perform very similarly to premium brands (like Duracell or Energizer) but at a fraction of the cost. Ease of Use: They are extremely straightforward. The positive and negative ends are clearly marked, making them easy to slot into whatever vintage radio or toy we are testing that day. Reliability: They deliver a consistent 1.5 volts, which is exactly what I need to verify if an item is fully functional. Shelf Life: They advertise a 5-year shelf life. While I'll likely use them up before then, it's nice to know they won't degrade in the cupboard. Cons: None that I’ve experienced for my use case. If you need them for incredibly high-drain devices used continuously for days on end, you might go through them a bit faster than top-tier lithiums, but for general-purpose use, they are flawless. Addressing common buyer questions: Are they exactly standard size and weight? Yes. They are your standard C-cell size, fitting perfectly snug into all the battery compartments I've tested them in without getting stuck or being too loose. The weight is exactly what you'd expect from a solid alkaline battery. What do they look like? They feature the standard, minimalist desertcart Basics colour scheme—mostly grey and black with a touch of orange. They are easy to spot in a drawer. Have there been any leaking issues? None at all. I haven't noticed any corrosion or leakage, even in the items we left them in for a few days. Final Verdict: If you need a reliable, cost-effective stockpile of C-cell batteries for household items, toys, or—like me—testing electronics, look no further. I highly recommend them and will definitely be ordering more for the shop when this box runs out! Review: Good value and lasted well - Good quality batteries at a reasonable price. I used these for several months before they eventually needed replacing, so I’ve been perfectly happy with how long they lasted. They performed reliably throughout and the 12-pack is handy to have in the cupboard for replacements when needed. Nothing particularly exciting to say about batteries, which is probably a good thing. Put them in, they work, eventually they run out. Exactly what they’re supposed to do. Good value and I’d happily buy them again. ## Features - C cell all-purpose alkaline batteries deliver reliable power to a wide range of devices - Includes an 8-pack of C cell 1.5 volt all-purpose alkaline batteries - Ideal for game controllers, toys, torches, digital cameras, clocks and more - 5-year shelf life; store for emergencies or use right away - Mercury and cadmium-free - Note: These batteries are NOT rechargeable; for reusable options, check out desertcart Basics rechargeable batteries ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B094D5LVSB | | Antenna Location | Camera,Clocks,Toys | | Battery Capacity | 1.5 | | Battery Cell Type | Alkaline | | Battery capacity | 1.5 | | Battery cell composition | Alkaline | | Best Sellers Rank | 71 in Electronics & Photo ( See Top 100 in Electronics & Photo ) 25 in Disposable Household Batteries | | Brand | Amazon Basics | | Brand Name | Amazon Basics | | Compatible Phone Models | Clock | | Country of Origin | China | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 170,545 Reviews | | EU Spare Part Availability Duration | 5 Years | | Item Dimensions | 23 x 23 x 51 millimetres | | Item Weight | 0.06 Kilograms | | Manufacturer | Amazon | | Model Name | VAR - Batt - C Cell All Purpose | | Model Number | LR14-8B | | Number of Batteries | 8 C batteries required. | | Number of batteries | 8 C batteries required. | | Recommended uses for product | Camera,Clocks,Toys | | Reusability | Single Use | | UPC | 840083610013 | | Unit Count | 8.0 count | | Unit count | 8.0 count | | Voltage | 1.5 Volts | ## Product Details - **Battery capacity:** 1.5 - **Battery cell composition:** Alkaline - **Brand:** Amazon Basics - **Number of batteries:** 8 C batteries required. - **Recommended uses for product:** Camera,Clocks,Toys ## Images ![Amazon Basics 8-Pack C Cell Alkaline Batteries, 1.5 Volt, 5-Year Shelf Life - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71M43rnpb5L.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Confused - are lr14 size c the same batteries as r14 size c ?** A: R14 are a c type battery, not an A type as arthur rice said **Q: Are these the same as 123** A: certainly not. The eight-pack is convenient and offers better value than many branded alternatives. They may not last quite as long in particularly demanding equipment, but for toys, torches and other everyday items they are a reliable and reasonably priced choice. ## Frequently Bought Together - Amazon Basics 8-Pack C Cell Alkaline All-Purpose Batteries, 1.5 Volt, 5-Year Shelf Life - Amazon Basics AAA Alkaline High-Performance Batteries, 1.5 Volt, 10-Year Shelf Life, 36 count (Pack of 1) - Amazon Basics 20-Pack AA Alkaline High-Performance Batteries, 1.5 Volt, 10-Year Shelf Life --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.sa/products/495973338-amazon-basics-8-pack-c-cell-alkaline-batteries-1-5](https://www.desertcart.com.sa/products/495973338-amazon-basics-8-pack-c-cell-alkaline-batteries-1-5) --- *Product available on Desertcart Saudi Arabia* *Store origin: SA* *Last updated: 2026-10-07*
