Universal OBD Power Cable for Dash Camera,24 Hours Surveillance/Acc Mode with Switch Button(Micro USB Port)

I have installed these in three of my vehicles and they all work with no issues. Just make sure you order the correct USB connection.

For many years, every time I got into or out of my 2009 Chevy Suburban, I had to plug the dash cam power supply into the cigarette lighter or remove it. This is because my cigarette lighter is supplied with electricity even when the engine is off, and the dash cam doesn't turn off when I turn the engine off. This is not optimal, especially if you forget to unplug it and run down the car battery. The REARMASTER Universal OBD Power Cable solves this problem. Whoever invented this should receive the Nobel Prize for Automotive Excellence. After easy installation (just plug it in and route the cord), the dash cam now starts and turns off in concert with the engine. I hear angels singing every time I see that dash cam turn on and off. The only thing I don't care for is that the REARMASTER Universal OBD Power Cable continues to supply power to the dash cam (or other device) for 5 minutes after turning the vehicle off. This unnecessarily drains the battery just a little, and being OCD I prefer to see that the dash cam has turned off before I exit the vehicle. Other than that, it is A+ in every respect. the cord works perfect, long enough to install a camera near the rear-view on two different cars, and still have plenty of extra length to reach the OBD port; easy to tuck into the molding around the windshield, etc for an invisible install; the switch gives options if your camera needs power all the time, or if it has a battery for its parking mode. Update: removing one star for compatibility reasons- I have 2 of these, each in a different make of vehicle, and while one works perfectly as expected, the other does not. I think it worked properly at first, but now it does not. Beware.

After couple month surveilance mode stoped working. No low voltage protection anymore. Keeps working and drains battery. UPDATE. Received free replacement from seller. Looks like first one was defective. Now works as described. Changed rating to 5 stars.

Like others, I did not want to use a lighter socket, and have the associated wiring dangling for a new dashcam (Garmin Mini 2) I installed in my 2014 Grand Cherokee. It was plenty long enough to run the wire from the front of the headliner, down the A pillar, and under the weather-stripping to get to the OBD connection with a couple of feet to spare. I rubber banded the extra together and pushed it up under the dash. I tried both settings on the switch and it worked exactly as described. The O setting kept power for exactly 5 minutes, whilst the | kept it on as long as I left it.

Great quality product and does work as described. However this does not fit well in my 2007 Volkswagen GTI. The cable feeds out on the right side of the connector which makes this a very tight fit in my car’s ODB port opening. I had to push the connector in very hard to supply power, bending the cable quite a bit. This has me concerned the cable may be damaged if need to remove for access to the ODB port for diagnostic scans/emissions testings in future. In the photos I compare this connector with a previous ODB connector with no fit issues. In my previous connector, the cable fed out of the ‘back’ of the device. I do plan to keep this device because it is still ideal for my camera/setup and installation. However before you purchase this cable, check the port opening in your vehicle to make sure there is enough clearance on the side for the cable to properly feed through the port opening.

Installation does not get any simpler than just plugging into the ODB port. I looked up how to hide the cable on youtube for my car and it looks like a pro installed it :-). Anyhow, I really like the ability to turn the power on or off with the switch on the plug. Even though it says it will stop drawing power if the battery gets to low, I switch it off as an extra precaution when parked inside my garage. I would recommend this adapter even if your dash cam does not have the "parking mode" feature simply because you can just plug it in w/o cutting wires or messing with fuse adapters.

Questo cavo ha risolto tutti i miei problemi. Come da descrizione si adatta perfettamente alla presa OBD2. Possiedo una Toyota Auris Hybrid del 2015 e devo dire che funziona alla perfezione. Con molto piacere inoltre ho scoperto, testandolo, che alimenta la Dashcam solo quando si mette il sistema ibrido in READY, quindi la dashcam non si accenderà inutilmente all’accensione ad esempio del solo quadro strumenti o quando si apre semplicemente la portiera, cosa che succedeva invece con la mia precedente bmw con la dashcam collegata all’accensigari, che registrava molte volte inutilmente a macchina ferma o in garage quando la lavavo all’interno. Se si seleziona l’interruttore In posizione “1” invece registra sempre anche ad auto spenta. Può essere utile in casi di panico o in riprese da fermo ad auto appunto spenta. Mi sento di consigliarlo vivamente a tutti. Anche perché il prezzo è irrisorio per l’ottimo servizio che svolge. Fantastico.
