I bought both because they upgraded from version 3 in the course of my studying, and then I had to buy the new version. There is a lot of new information contained within the charts, graphs, and sample questions. There are other Arborist Study Guides, and you probably should join ISA, but this is the best ISA guide of all the ones I have read. You really (really) want to pass this exam the first time. The exam is deceiving, and the questions are difficult and tricky. I kept studying and taking the different available practice tests until I was consistently getting 90% - 100% correct. This book is well written, and has a treasure trove of information ready to help you pass the exam. All you have to do is read it thoroughly, and study hard! Good Luck on your Arborist Exam!
