Simply put; if you cannot lock the door from either inside or outside it is not a lock and therefore not fit for purpose. For clarity. To lock this device is to extend the bolt from the door into the door frame. That's it. Nothing further is being asked or advertised for this lock Note, as with any lock, whether used with a key or keypad, someone with a second key or knowing the keypad code, can always unlock the door. This is how it should be, (think of a co-worker or loved one), and does NOT mean you cannot lock the door from inside, it simply means that the lock does not come with a deadbolt, i.e a an additional locking device that you can use inside to stop any further entry.
