Quite hard getting the cap into the bars but shouldn't be slack anyway. The mirrors detach just leaving the end stops. They are very light and unobtrusive. The mirrors can get scratched in time, that's why I'm on my second pair! Unfortunately I had to buy the lot again as I couldn't buy the mirrors on their own. These mirrors are leagues ahead from the blurry mess I was looking at before - The rubber inserts that pop into the bar-ends do seem to hold them exactly where they're positioned and the curved mirrors mean you can see everything you need.
