Thought provoking
Will changing position regularly help you reach a ripe old age with full health and vitality? A chiropractor friend with a scientific bent sent me an interview with the author and I bought this book on spec. In a nutshell she believes, after working on astronaut physical rehab for NASA, that regular movement is the key to longevity and fitness. After doing an experiment with stand up desks for a few months I'm inclined to agree. Either standing or sitting for long periods I've found I get problems with either joints, posture or weight gain. Since reading this I now implement a move-every-20-minutes regime (I work at my desk four days a week), usually yoga, calisthenics or weights. I'm happier, trimmer and more flexible. She may well be on to something. My only criticism is that it felt a bit long and could have done with a bit of trimming as it begins to feel repetitive quite quickly. Worth a download though.

We all sit way to much and this book really brings it home how it effects us and how small changes can bring huge gains to bette
This book is such a interesting book that everyone should read. It made me realise I need to move more all throughout the day, going to the gym isn't going to be enough to keep me fit well into my older years. We all sit way to much and this book really brings it home how it effects us and how small changes can bring huge gains to better our life styles.

Moving More
I have taken some very important messages about the effects of inactivity from Joan's book. I'm not exercising more but have started to build into my life her gravity engaging habits. For a world that spends increasing hours on its backside, this is a much needed wake-up call.

I thought this book was a very interesting view of exercise, or shall we say movement to live by. Coming from a very highly regarded source, a scientist who worked with the astronauts at NASA when they had to get used to gravity again, I think it must be science that should be more well known amongst average people. I was not aware of how important everyday movements are, how they are carried out; and new technology which most certainly could help anyone to retain their health, or regain movement ability after it had been lost. I hope in the near future I will be able to access some of the items mentioned in this book which will I am sure dramatically change my body, and it will certainly help others if they can get access to the items mentioned. This is knowledge that needs to be spread far and wide. Furthermore, more companies and organizations that want to help people be fit really need to read this book! Thank you so much Joan!

This is a great book. Gives many pieces of information to help motivate and move a person and the reasons why behind the advice to do so. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who would like to live long who live strong

... and who doesn't? I found the research published in this book very interesting and enlightening. Definitely fosters a different and probably healthier view on workout than many other books. Absolutely recommended!

A short and readable book based on Dr. Vernikos' work with the rehabilitation of returned astronauts, who suffer from a long list of fairly serious though reversible health problems. She writes well about the influence of gravity on the functioning of our main body systems, takes in recent research on the damage done by long sessions of sitting (as in writing at a computer!), and makes clear distinctions between the good that regular exercise can do and the good that daily gravity-based activity can do--the two do different things, and are complementary, not alternative. I found the book very useful--as one who suffers from ME/CFS, it has entered into my thinking about how best to use the little energy I have. Short bibliographies are included that enable one to pursue certain key concepts further. Thank you, Dr. Vernikos!
