Can anyone supply the instructions on how to change the bulb?

Yes i had the same issue over the weekend. Once i removed the light unit from the globe I struggled then to pull the bulb out of the white base. However I soon found out that the white base is part of the bulb and in fact you need to screw the whole unit out. Replace with any small edison screw bulb when done

Is this battery operated or mains?

This is a mains operated globe. It't got little pictures on relevant locations as well to assist kids in associating monuments and animals in specific geographic locations. My son uses it as his bed side lamp.

is bulb repacement easy to obtain and fit please

Yes easy to fit and instructions on what spec of bulb is and how to fit them is supplied with each globe

does it come with a bulb?

Yes... But like many said on here it blows in no time.Problem is the bulb is halogen and the globe is enclosed hence the heat knocks the bulb out within a few days. I wants this as a nightlight for my sons bedroom so this wasn't ideal. instead I replaced it with an led light from the supermarket... A screw in golf ball style. To get the light into the lightfitting you'll need to cut off the plastic globe covering the actual led then squeeze it in (the plastic is purely cosmetic to diffuse the light and its removal won't effect it one bit, besides your not going to see it when everything Is put back together.) It's a little tricky but well worth it. I've had ours over a year now and it's still going strong!!
