Great little Camera
I searched everywhere for a compact camera that would take decent quality photos. This Sony DSCW800 is an excellent camera. It measures approximately 9.5 x 5.5 cm and has a nice weight to it. The screen measures 5.5 x 4.5 and the digital settings are very easy to follow onscreen. I love the look and feel of it and the quality of pics are awesome. The only draw back is the camera comes with very basic set-up instructions. Detailed instructions can be found easily on the Sony websiteThe camera has a very impressive battery life. I average 20/30pics per week and I don't need to charge this for weeks at a time. Here's a couple of pics. I hope you find my review helpfulUPDATE: I would also like to add that this camera has an impressive battery life. I average 20/30 photos per week and only need to charge this every few weeks.

Excellent little camera
Excellent little camera for the cost. Have used it a number of times and have absolutely no issues with it. Pictures are crystal clear given that they are 20m pixels. The only downside I have experienced (as with all digital cameras) is the size of each picture/file - in this case typically over 7mb which can cause a bit of an issue if trying to email them. I use it to take pictures of items in a charity shop in France (Fripaffaires) so tend to reduce the size before uploading them. It's small and easily fits into a pocket so from that point of view is easier to handle than my DLSR.Overall, very pleased.

Good for the Pocket
My last cheap digital camera was a Sony and it lasted for years. This has a larger screen, which is slightly grainy, but once loaded on the computer the photos are superb. There are a number of options on the menu to increase quality to maximum. For me, it is ideal for general shots for keeping in touch with family and friends on Facebook. Very lightweight. The macro function is automatic. Had no trouble in low lighting, and the flash seems well distributed giving a nice overall shot. You have to disconnect a lead from the charger to download onto your computer, and you must also download Sony's own downloading programme (which is a bit basic) as per the instructions given. The video aspect is fairly good for general purposes. Does not come with a memory card or protective bag. I used the old memory card from my previous camera. A quality pocket camera which delivers what you'd expect for the price.

Top quality service amazon
The service I had from Amazon was top quality because I ordered this camera only a few days before I went on holiday and thought it will never turn up in time but it did, it arrived 36 hours later and Amazon kept me informed right until it was delivered so I would like to say a big thank you Amazon first class service , as for the camera it is a very good camera and I think it is real value for the money ,The picture quality is very good and you can take a lot of pictures with 1 charge and is very easy to use . Kind regards Malcolm.

A quite small camera with a good reputation but I found it a little disappointing
A quite small camera with a good reputation but I found it a little disappointing. Even with a Transcend 32gb card It is slow processing the taken photo, leaving you waiting to take another and ultimately missing what would have been a good photo. Videoing moving objects too are not captured very well as the focusing is too slow as well, leaving you in video mode with blurred sections in your video. Compared to a similar Kodak at a similar price sorry I prefer the Kodak! Moving around the menu is also poor. I am just glad it is only a handy if somewhat limited back up to my Canon 600D.

User friendly little camera - great value for money
I'm a retired lady and I'm not an expert where cameras are concerned - I need them to be user friendly, and this camera is exactly that. In no time at all I had figured out just what its functions are - it's all so easy. Also a Help Guide on-line manual on the Sony support website goes into great detail of what exactly this amazing little camera can do. I can recommend this camera with confidence to all those who want a good uncomplicated camera that is excellent value for money. I like it to the extent that I've just bought another one for my son who is wanting a small camera that he can slip into his top pocket whilst out walking - he's in for a nice birthday surprise.

Ony lasted 18 months!!!!!!!!So do not buy
This camera only lasted 18 months before the software packed up.It is in for repair which may be OK if the price is right. It started off being a good camera but ended up being a nightmare. My advice is to try a Nikon A10 which has , so far , more robust software . Nikon are camera makers and it shows up in the software . I have replaced the Sony with an A10 so we will see how long this one lasts. The Nikon is more expensive but I hope it will be worth it . I don't believe in all these insurance policies you can but to extend the warranty . I have bought many things that have lasted and lasted . Had I paid for insurance on all thses it woulde have cast a fortune by now.I do not recommend this camera , there is something lacking in the software department, it is not robust enough.I was a programmer once upon a time and can tell the signs of lacking robustness.DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA , BUY A NIKON OR A CANON .12th Sept 2019Having complained to Amazon about this camera ( which was 18months old when the software packed up ) and told them that warranties are not legally binding and that you can expect a Sony camera to last much longer than 18 months they sent me a brand new camera for no charge. WELL DONE AMAZON . Also I had sent the broken camera to the Manchester repair company using the Amazon system whereby they reimburse you for the postage and the return postage if you decide the repair cost is not worth it .In the event I had the broken camera returned and in perfect working order for no charge. WELL DONE AMAZON.The fault was , in my opinion, was the software because the new software on the returned camera had had it's date changed . This indicates that the software had been reinstalled .It remains to be seen how long these cameras last.

Lightweight, great photos, easy to use
I bought this camera a little over a year ago (not through Amazon, but for no particular reason). I wanted a lightweight camera that takes good photos and this is it! I love that I don't have to remove the battery in order to charge it. I'm usually surprised with how good the quality of the photos is. The battery lasts a really long time for me. I hardly ever have to charge it, even if I leave the camera to sit for long periods of time.Everything about the controls are fairly self-explanatory. I feel lucky to have such a good little camera at the price (~$80 when I purchased it).I have a pricier camera for paid work and my own art work. This one is great though for having along on a fun day with friends and being able to relax that I'm not going to destroy or lose my expensive camera. The only thing that bugs me sometimes but isn't enough to lose a star from my review is that I find it rather easy to -almost- accidentally delete photos when scrolling through them. Luckily the camera does ask first to confirm, and the button to confirm the delete isn't easy to press by accident. Thanks, Sony, for a great product!!!
