I used the 1.5 rice to 1.5 water ratio and for the first try I used basmati rice.i also added 1/2 a teaspoon of vegetable oil to the pot and mixed it in before popping the lid on and flipping the switch to cook.within 5 mins I could smell the rice so that was a good sign.nice and simple when it finished it switched itself to warm and I left it for the required 15 minute steaming time.and I was very impressed with the results,I used a wooden fork to separate the grains and it was lovely and fluffy with a great texture.this ratio would definitely feed two people no problem, but on the first try there was just me and there is some left over (orange bowl with hand to give size), the added vegetable oil at the beginning also meant the rice did not stick to the inner pot at all so that made for easier cleaning out at the end. After the rice is cooked it keeps it warm for when you need it. We don't know what happens after six hours, as we've never needed to have it on that long.
