Reader, let me save you the bother and advise you that a lot of the ones recommended in those 'top 10' or 'best buy' lists have been discontinued. So I decided to take the plunge with this relatively cheap one. It arrived about an hour ago, and I couldn't resist testing it straight away. I'm really pleased with the result and the waffle was cooked well through. Could have added a bit more mix, but didn't want to overfill on my first attempt. Now, I did use a waffle mix (where you just add water and melted butter) so I don't know how it will fare with my own homemade batter. But so far, so good. One thing - I didn't notice the red 'ready' light turn off, so I waited for about 7 timed minutes before I used. Then timed again 5 mins for cooking rather than rely on the light. Seemed to be the right time tho.
