The fact that it measures not only AC but DC Current too, is worth the price in itself. To date, I am very impressed. Granted it isn't perfect but it's pretty damned close. Acceptably accurate, even if you have to keep 'zero-ing' to obtain an accurate reading. The probes that are included are a tad slow when testing for Continuity, but this is down to the probes rather than the Tester. As such, if you're fussy, you may want to use some better-quality ones. Also, the included storage bag is a little soft and flimsy. It's better than nothing but a harder case would provide better protection..... Again, for the price, one can't really complain. I'm left-handed, so the trigger being situated on the left, works Very Well for me, whereas if I hold it in my right hand, I find it awkward to use the trigger but maybe you Right Handers, don't have that issue! This meter has what is known as a 3-1/2 digit display, in other words, its maximum display reading is 1999. The lowest current range, both AC and DC is 2A, so the maximum reading is 1.999A. On this scale therefore the meter has a resolution of 1mA, so it can read currents up to 2A with resolution of +/- 1mA. Note the "+/-", as with all digital instruments there is an uncertainty in the least significant digit of +/-1 due to quantisation or sampling errors, this is perfectly normal, and applies to all digital systems. In order to make the most accurate low current measurements when you select the DC current mode, place the meter as close to the measurement position as possible, and zero it with a brief push of the ZERO button, and then clip the meter's jaws over the wire carrying the current to be measured. **Q: Does it come with a calibration certificate** A: No, I have been in the electronics industry for over 35 years and if your occupation requires a calibrated instrument you will have to go down the route of Fluke instrumentation. Yes, these are 10x the price of your average meter but can be sent away for calibration yearly as a compulsory requirement of the vast majority of industries. Since leaving the industry I no longer have the need for calibration and have been more than happy with UNI-T as a daily workhorse. **Q: can i test earth leakage with that** A: provided you can get the clamp around the wire carrying this current this should be OKs. However if the current is going to earth through an alternative path you will not get a useful answer. You could try putting the clamp around the line and neutral (exclude any earth wire) this should indicate leakage (differential) current but I have not tried this. **Q: Just bought this meter. 2300w heat gun on 230v ac reading zero amps???? am i doing something wrong or is this just useless?** A: Although you do not say so, I suspect that you are simply clamping the ammeter over the mains cable. In which case, it will read zero. The alternating current creates a magnetic field around each wire, and as the two wires in the cable are in close proximity to each other, their individual magnetic fields cancel each other out. What you need to do is make yourself a piece of wood with a mains socket on it and wire up a mains plug, but keep the live (Brown) and neutral (Blue) wires separated. Plug the mains plug into the mains, plug your appliance into the socket and now clip the ammeter over either the live (Brown) or the neutral (Blue) wire, and this way you will sense the current in one wire only, and the ammeter will show the result. You should also connect the earth (Yellow/Green) wire to the socket as well, for safety. I am assuming that you have correctly selected the AC current range, which, for the load you have indicated would be the 20A range. When you wish to measure Direct Current, select the appropriate current range, and then holding the clamp near where you wish to make the measurement, briefly press the grey ZERO button to cancel any residual reading, and then open the clamp and clip it over a single wire carrying the current to be measured. Basically, Highly Recommended!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decent for a amp clamp *by A***L on 8 February 2023* Nice solid feel, but I wouldn't think it would last too long being bumped off the bench onto a hard floor. This is the best amp clamp I could find for under £50, which was my budget, considering I already have a couple of traditional multimeters. I needed an amp clamp to measure current without breaking a circuit and voltage in cables where accessing terminals is difficult to reach and manage current spikes on load. You can read the spec for this and compare with other models in the UNI-T range, so won’t list spec here. It is easy to use and performs well, the clamp opens to about the width of your finger which is enough for small applications. Voltmeter is accurate down to 0.01V in the voltage range and 10mV in the millivolt range. Current is not as accurate. If you are measuring large current, the Amp range is acceptable but in the mA range, it could make difference depending on the component requirements, TV, computer, PSUs, other sensitive electronic circuits, but for general indicator for diagnostics this is good enough for the price. I do find the auto ranging function sometimes not performing at all, and sometimes taking a long time, sometimes having to constantly select the AC/DC switch or the rotary dial. I would like to see auto ranging for current without the need to select 2A and 20A, sometimes the meter struggles to display reading appropriately. I needed to see mA but the meter decided to display A range, removing my need to see current value to the accuracy I needed to measure, 0.01A could be anything from 100mA to 199mA and needing to determine 150mA made using this a bit difficult.
