It doesn't stop the dog from barking immediately, but my neighbor's dog doesn't bark nearly as long or as often as she used to. Every time I hear her barking, I turn on the device. Once she stops barking, I turn it off. Slowly she has barked less and less often, and not nearly as long as she used to. And now, when she hears me come out to turn the device on, she usually stops right then or shortly after I turn it on. And an added benefit: I think my neighbors have seen the green light flashing and have figured out that it's some kind of bark deterrent device. I've talked to them about the barking before, but now now it seems that they bring the dog inside a lot quicker, for whatever reason. But that's cool with me, I just wanted some peace and quiet.
