Review: Good but my dog abuses it - Very good product but my dog use the button to get my attention all the time now so I have to stop using this. My dog is too talkative! Review: Exactly what’s needed for a dog button mat - So… lots of people seem upset that there are no buttons included. I, however, read the description and am SO very happy with this button mat. It fits the HFW (Hunger for Words) buttons but ALSO fits the cheaper multipack of 8 buttons I purchased on desertcart (roughly 9cm/ 3.5” diameter). We first set up her buttons on cardboard with Velcro dots to keep them stable, but our 3-month old standard poodle puppy chewed that incessantly. We also bought a competitive product with hexagonal buttons and a matching mat, but the button holes popped completely out, so the buttons fell through if you moved the mat. The HFW buttons are more expensive and the sound quality is not as good as the cheaper buttons. That said if you want to give your dog multiple buttons, keeping them in the same order is very important (so they know which button is which, due to dog colourblindness & inability to read 😉). This is a major challenge with cheaper mats, and while you could make a button board with plywood and attached the buttons with Velcro, that’s a lot more work than just buying this mat which suits the purpose & is expandable. So… I bought the expensive mat. It’s worth it. The buttons do not require the Velcro dots to keep them in place as they fit nicely in the cutout. It’s made of something like neoprene with a harder rubber-ish bottom. Our pup no longer has an interest in chewing the button mat (she tried at first, but wasn’t as interested as she was in chewing cardboard). We’ve been using the HFW (Hunger For Words) method with our pup for 2.5 weeks and she uses her “outside” button the most (bc housetraining was most critical!), but also “play” (frequently), “cuddles” (occasionally), “all done” (a few times), and “eat” (only once when she was hungry before her normal dinner time, probably due to the clocks changing & switching her from 3 feeds a day to 2 feeds). She hasn’t used her water button, but we’re good about keeping that filled, so she doesn’t really need to ask…. We (family of 3 humans) model all of her buttons multiple times a day, again following the HFW method outlined in the two books (“How Stella Learned to Talk” & “Your Dog Can Talk” both by Christina Hunger). It works really well! Our pup likes this mat so much she frequently sits right next to it. ## Features - Organise Your Dog’s Speech Buttons: Keep your recordable buttons for dogs tidy and organised with this durable mat that holds up to 6 talking buttons for pets (recordable buttons sold separately). - One Mat or Many: Use this mat on its own as you start your smart pet’s communication journey or connect multiple mats to expand your button board. - Guide By Christina Hunger: Follow along with expert advice written by Christina Hunger, speech therapist and creator of the talking dog movement. - Durable and Easy to Use: Made from durable pet-safe foam, this mat features intuitively designed access holes that improve sound quality and make it easy to remove and reorganise your talking buttons for pets. - Approved By Stella: To learn more Hunger for Words and Christina's ground-breaking work, check out the book How Stella Learned to Talk—a New York Times bestseller in 2021. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B09QWB27WM | | Best Sellers Rank | 39,306 in Pet Supplies ( See Top 100 in Pet Supplies ) 342 in Interactive Toys for Dogs | | Brand | Learning Resources | | Brand Name | Learning Resources | | Colour | multi | | Customer Reviews | 4.0 out of 5 stars 767 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00765023093551 | | Included Components | 1 x Button Mat | | Item Type Name | Hunger For Words Talking Pet Button Mat - 1 Piece Single Mat Holds Up to 6 Buttons, Talking Dog Button Mat, Talking Dog Button Storage, Pet Supplies | | Item Weight | 0.47 Grams | | Manufacturer | Hunger For Words | | Manufacturer Part Number | LER9355 | | Material | Foam | | Material Type | Foam | | Model Number | LER9355 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Pattern | Solid | | Pet Type | Dog | | Product Care Instructions | Machine Wash | | Product care instructions | Machine Wash | | Target Audience | Dog | | Target Species | Dog | | UPC | 765023093551 | | Unit Count | 1 count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Hunger for Words - **Colour:** multi - **Global Trade Identification Number:** 00765023093551 - **Material:** Foam - **Pattern:** Solid - **Pet Type:** Dog - **Product care instructions:** Machine Wash - **UPC:** 765023093551 ## Images ![Hunger for Words Talking Pet Button Mat - 1 Piece Single Mat Holds Up to 6 Buttons, Talking Dog Button Mat, Talking Dog Button Storage, Pet Supplies, multi - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71XRaaHjSJL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good but my dog abuses it *by Y***C on 26 July 2026* Very good product but my dog use the button to get my attention all the time now so I have to stop using this. Its a good size with spaces between the buttons. My dog hasnt been able to move it yet while pawing at the buttons, so thats good that its going to stay in place with all her boisterous pawing of the buttons! I have several different brands of buttons and all of the larger ones fit in the mat so im really pleased with that. I marked it down to 4 stars simply because of the price. Very expensive for what it is. ## Frequently Bought Together - Hunger for Words Talking Pet Button Mat - 1 Piece Single Mat Holds Up to 6 Buttons, Talking Dog Button Mat, Talking Dog Button Storage, Pet Supplies, (Buttons Sold Separately) - Hunger for Words Talking Pet Starter Set, Recordable Buttons for Dogs, Talking Dog Buttons, Teach Your Dog to Talk - Hunger for Words Talking Pet Doorbell - 1 Piece Doorbell for Dogs, Doggie Doorbell, Perfect for Dog Training, Dog Buttons for Communication, multi --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.sa/products/457432226-hunger-for-words-talking-pet-button-mat-1-piece-single](https://www.desertcart.com.sa/products/457432226-hunger-for-words-talking-pet-button-mat-1-piece-single) --- *Product available on Desertcart Saudi Arabia* *Store origin: SA* *Last updated: 2026-10-24*
