Review: Battery needs replacement each day, and unit has limited data, only 24 hours. - Battery needs replacement each day, and unit has limited data, only 24 hours. Review: Reed R8080 is a great tool. - 4/13/2019. Had a significant issue with a neighbor who was creating a neighborhood disturbance to all the neighbors within 500 feet in a residential area. This tool provided metrics useful to convince local city authorities to take action and resolve the issues. Worth the cost. I did extensive research for a reliable unit that can record readings and of the two on the market under $800, this was the best. Very pleased with the performance and ease of operation. Comes with a hard case but I also bought the soft carry case and the calibrator device. Without the calibrator you have no evidence to convince authorities that the readings are reliable and they will not accept them. ## Features - High accuracy of 14 dB meets Type 2 standards - Record up to 64000 datapoints and keep track with internal time and date stamp - User selectable sampling rate from 1 to 60 seconds - Digital analog bargraph - Includes windshield ball USB cable PC software batteries and hard carrying case ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B017KYCJJ8 | | Best Sellers Rank | #273,993 in Industrial & Scientific ( See Top 100 in Industrial & Scientific ) #113 in Sound & Noise Meters | | Date First Available | November 4, 2015 | | Item Weight | 8.8 ounces | | Item model number | R8080 | | Manufacturer | REED Instruments | | Product Dimensions | 24 x 24 x 24 inches | ## Images ![REED Instruments R8080 Sound Level Meter, Datalogger with Bargraph, 30 to 130 dB - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/6194L+r1x0L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Hi - neighbor shoots firearms in the middle of the nite, about 100 yards away from my house - will this meter measure those sounds?** A: Hi, At this time, none of our devices are capable of accurately measuring db level of a gunfire as they can only measure up to 130db. Furthermore, they cannot measure instantaneous peaks, only continuous sounds. Gunshots range from 140db-190dB and are instantaneous. I can recommend looking at the LXT1-QPR from Larson Davis as it is specific for gunfire testing. Thanks, Ram Meter Inc. **Q: Is there a sound level meter - reed or other brand - that can read low frequencies between 20db and 10db?** A: REED Instruments does not have a meter that can take readings between 20dB and 10dB. **Q: Is it necessary to connect the R8080 data logging sound meter to the PC before starting to record, such as other sound meter?** A: According to the specifications R8080 has 1MB of internal memory (64,000 Data points) and can be used as a stand-alone device. Connecting it to the PC enables users to plot graphs in real-time and export data to CSV format. **Q: Does this come with software and cable** A: The R8080 includes Sound Level Microphone, Windscreen, USB Cable, Windows Software, (4) AAA Batteries and Hard Carrying Case ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐ Battery needs replacement each day, and unit has limited data, only 24 hours. *by C***E on 25 October 2021* Battery needs replacement each day, and unit has limited data, only 24 hours. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reed R8080 is a great tool. *by T***1 on 14 April 2019* 4/13/2019.
