Redi Shade No Tools Original Arch Fabric Light Blocking Pleated Shade

I am far from skilled in arts and crafts so I knew I would have a hard time as i have an imperfect arch. The front of the house faces west and the heat from the sun in Florida is just one of the reasons I dislike DST. When you look at the picture please note that the shade actually needs to go back a bit and I will get to that sometime. But for now it is helping to block the sun and reduce house heat. They provide clear directions.

This shade is awesome! We have huge windows in our family room that face south, and for over 5 years I have dealt with the winter sun streaming right through the top window. I wish I had found this sooner. It arrived, it was fairly easy for my husband to cut through with box cutters, and installation was a breeze. This blocks 100% of the light; part of me wishes I had gotten the one that lets a little light through, but this one does exactly what it says. It's pretty much like there is no window there at all anymore. I like that this is removable for the summer when the sun doesn't shine directly in. I just used regular Scotch tape to hold down both sides instead of peeling off the sticky part so I can remove it later in the year. Our looks identical to the picture at night, and during the day when the sun is shining behind it, the shade looks a little bit lighter. It looks great!

If you want an inexpensive solution to a south-facing half moon window, this is it! It's cheaply made, but you can't tell unless you're close up - which would be unlikely since these windows are usually high above the regular windows. It has made a significant difference in the temperature of the room during the hot Texas summer. While it blocks the sunlight, it isn't completely opaque so it still looks pretty. I was concerned about using my expensive chef's knife but it didn't seem to harm it -- I just sharpened it before and after. It would have been better if I was stronger so I could have cut straight down to the bottom but I had to turn it on the side to finish cutting. This made the cut less than perfect, but don't worry, you can't tell once it's up. In hindsight, it could have been that the blade got dull at 3/4 of the way and probably should have tried re-sharpening. But it turned out fine anyway so no complaints.

Installation was simple enough. Unfortunately my arch was imperfect. At 90 degrees it was a little shorter than at 0 and 180. Instructions said to draw with a pen or pencil after putting it up temporarily but I felt this was too hard. Instead I took the measurements and cut a notch in a V shape at the end. The measuring tape works really well and can be trusted. I used a chef’s knife and a serrated bread knife to do the job on a clean cutting board. I put the shiny side facing in but I wish the instructions made clear which is better for reducing light and heat. I hope I chose right. For the price I’m glad this worked so well.

I purchased two Arch window natural color shades. My windows are imperfect arch windows so I had to cut them to fit. They came out very nice just take your time and measure the base so you get the holders centered. I placed them in the base, without sticking them in place yet, then l gently pressed them against the rim of the window frame and marked them along the edge and removed them from base & cut along my trace marks then l placed them in the base again opened the shades & checked them. They fit well with some adjustment. Lastly I stuck them in place with the double stick tape. They look great. One note: both shades had a few small pin-hole like areas where you can see them if you look for them with the sun shining directly into the windows. Otherwise good.

I bought this to replace a presumably, 20-year-old version of a similar shade. The old one was dingy and dusty, and we wanted one that would block more light and insulate the window because the window it’s in gets a ton of light during the day and the room gets very warm. And frankly we need all of our windows replaced as well. So this shade is sort of reflective on one side, so we have that facing outward to repel sun rays and it seems to be working really well especially in tandem with the blackout curtain. We got to keep the room nice and cool. It was pretty easy to install. I was able to cut it to size just with the box cutter very easily. Our original purchase did not come with the little plastic thingy that you need in the center of the arch. It just was not included in the box. But after speaking with Amazon customer support, they just sent me a second one so it all worked out. I really only needed the little plastic piece but they were unable to send me just the little plastic piece so now I have a back up shade. We tried to use the existing plastic piece that we had from the old shade, but it was too thin. But it all worked out!

This was exactly what I was looking for. It's a very simple and light object, but it fans out beautifully and does exactly what it says - blocks the light. No more sun in my face yay!! It was a little difficult to cut it to the right length in certain areas then leave it incur in others, but that might have just been me. *Update* This thing. This thing has caused a lot of stress. Originally, it wasn't TOO difficult to put up. It was a little tough to measure and get all the areas cut differently to get it to fix, but after a while I managed to get it the right size and it was great. A few days later it suddenly, and very dramatically fell. It was clear right away that the adhesive wasn't very strong. It was also clear that when the shade is in the heat and gets hot it becomes limp due to the fact that it's basically paper. That's why it fell. So after rigging it back up I thought i had the problem fixed, but then it fell again today, on a very hot day. After trying to use super glue, wedges to make it stick, falling out of chairs, and being covered in super glue I've given up. Why would a material be used that gets soft and changes constancy in the heat to make an item that is meant to block sunlight and air in direct heat.

I bought this shade to install in a guest room. We really didn't care about the color or texture; it just needed to block the light in a room that's rarely ever used. I installed it and sure enough, it looks GREAT! The only issue I had was cutting it. I tried being "smart" and using my chop saw that I use for wood trim. That was a disaster. I still have pieces of the shade stuck in the saw. Don't do that. I ended up using a sharp bread knife and it did a perfect job. I did make a few practice cuts first, and the final cut looked really good. My window isn't totally perfect, so there's about an 1/8" gap at the top of the window, but it fits perfectly at the bottom and that's what counts. Overall, I'm exceedingly pleased and will happily recommend this shade to friends.

I have had this product for 2 years now in a very hot and sunny window exposure and looks as new, easy to install and looks professional NOT cheap.

it was easy to cut to size. I added an aluminum flat to both sides (using the sticky tape) which meant I could sit it in place, opened out, and it stays there. I can close the fan and take it down to clean the window. Win win.
