No, you can not remove the foam pads.

**Q: Can the microphone piece be removed?**
A: The microphone is not detachable. When I use the headset to listen to music on my cell phone, I flip it up so it's out of the way.

**Q: Is this really 4900 units or just 1 unit?**
A: When I purchased this item it was sold as one unit.

**Q: How do you increase the sound**
A: You cannot adjust the volume from this headset. You need to adjust on your device (PC, Laptop, whatever you have the headset connected to).
