Review: Classic epic movie in Blu-ray glory - EXCELLENT bluray version of Dances With Wolves, a truly classic epic movie, and to many critics and fans alike, the best Kevin Costner film ever made and also the best film depicting first nations, with respect and humanity throughout, even in the most cruel scenes. This version ( just not to be confused, we're talking about the one with Costner holding the American flag which contains an extended version of the original theatrical film ) is arguably a real work of art, carefully augmented by great scenes which obviously were only cut because the original movie was already very long. This version is about four hours long and adds a LOT to the original film, whether it adds context or depth to certain characters. The visual quality of this version exceeds any other version of this movie I've seen. The images are crystal clear and even though this movie is old, it aged wonderfully well and today's epic movies PALE in comparison to the high scale scenes and the practical effects utterly eclipse today's CGI. This, my friends, is what I consider the peak of American cinema and any movie fan, Kevin Costner fan, American history fan NEED to buy it. One of the best films ever made, period. Thank you Kevin Costner for your dedicating to your craft, going as far as putting your own money in the works of art you have made! I know he will never read this, but I still felt compelled to do it. This guy had a vision and he made it happen and it was glorious.
