    70 minutes of supreme soul!

I probably never would have known about this CD if not for the Amazon listing and the rave review by R. Mix. Thank you! This sounded like a winner and after ordering it and listening to it ---- again and again and again --- I'm a believer: this is indeed a soul masterpiece! The CD is titled "Rare Stamps" but it's actually 2 studio albums by Eddie Floyd --- ""I've Never Found a Girl" and "Rare Stamps" --- along with some bonus cuts that were released as singles, plus a duet with Mavis Staples. It's all wonderful. One interesting bit of trivia that is buried in the CD credits; three of the songs on here ("Bring It On Home To Me", "I've Never Found a Girl", and "I'm Just the Kind of Fool") appeared on both studio albums, each released in 1968.If you're like me, you've heard a few of Eddie Floyd's hits, such as "Knock on Wood" and "Things Get Better" but not the rest of these tracks. As R. Mix noted in his review, it's stunning to think that the label didn't prioritize Eddie Floyd and his music more at the time these albums were released. Granted, Stax had a wealth of great artists and fine songs, but this music should rank up there with the best of the era too. Truly, this is supreme soul! The CD comes with a thin insert that lists the tracks and original issue dates, plus a list of the musicians who played on the songs (Booker T. Jones, Steve Cropper, Donald 'Duck' Dunn, Al Jackson, Isaac Hayes, plus the Mar-Key horns), but sadly there isn't an essay or additional liner notes. But on music merits alone, plus the fact that you get 70 minutes of songs, this one is a keeper.

    Good cd

Eddie Floyd is an amazing, sort of overlooked part of Stax's canon due to the other giants he had to share space with. But this is a great CD that shows his productive growth from the 60's to the mid 70's without sucking, which few of his contemporaries did. Thank you Eddie!
