Does the pump require or need a pressure tank? I’ve heard it’s pressure on demand and want to know prior to purchase

The MINI 3 does not need or require a pressure tank. It comes with a very small internal one used to absorb the shock of water hammer. The only instance where an external pressure tank is needed is in older homes that have hot water heaters without some sort of buffer to handle thermal expansion in the piping.

Our pump is plugged into a gfi and it recently started tripping it so my husband replaced the gfi and it is still happening. any suggestions?

if your GFI is tripping out then the GFI is no good. the pump shouldn't really run enough to trip it. so check the amperage of GFi and circuit Breaker and make sure the amps is correct. either 15 or 20 do not mix them with 15 amp breaker or 20 amp gfi or vice versa they should be the same.

For a shallow well, is this enough to pull the water out and push it up 2 stories, or should this be installed downstream from a submersible pump?

I have a shallow well with a jet pump in the basement. I installed this after the bladder tank to boost whole house pressure. This enables me to run a lower pressure on the jet pump, so it runs less. I’ve had it for 2 years now and it works really well. You can boost pressure all the way to 100PSI if you want. I use a 30-50 pressure switch on the jet pump, and have the booster pump set to 65PSI which works well for my two story house. It modulates based on flow to keep pressure constant at setpoint. Again I’m extremely happy with it.
