Cole Hersee 4099 Universal Buzzer

Great application for a warning sound. My application is a lights-on reminder for a classic car. Sound: great buzzer sound - not the high pitch piezo sound you will get from the cheaper options around Volume: very subjective. I think the volume is loud if placed uncovered inside a car. Good volume for an under dash application. Comments: I read some reviews were the purchasers were not happy in a boat application. I can see that being an issue since this is a buzzer that works at a lower frequency but inside a car it works great.

I needed a buzzer to activate with a DC electronic strike. The strike I had installed would click but was barely audible, and I needed it to buzz. Short of replacing the Strike with an AC strike that would buzz, I decided to look for a buzzer to add to the existing strike so I would not have to replace multiple expensive parts. This buzzer worked perfectly. it makes a decent buzz sound, not too loud, but not too soft. This is bigger than I had expected, but it fit where I needed it without issue. simple install just wired in line with the strike and when it is released this buzzes. This reminds me of the old car buzzers when you used to turn the key on prior to starting the car or if you left the headlights on. It worked perfectly for what I needed it for, and makes the sound I needed it to make.

I had planned to use this as a door buzzer for an old car, but ended up going a different direction. Regardless, this would have worked fine. Just connect it to 12V and it buzzes. It's pretty loud and sounds like a dryer buzzer (to me). It was loud enough that I would have wanted to bury it under the dash (might have been loud in an enclosed cab of the car), but not so loud I was concerned about it.

I have no problem with the quality of the alarm. However, I decided to remove it. This product, at least on my boat, can be installed only behind the panel. With the engine running, it would be difficult to hear if the oil pressure dropped. I found an external siren works best for my vessel.

Buzzer is a mechanical type and is not polarized, meaning either stud can be used as the positive or the negative. Not super loud, but that’s what I wanted. Good retro sound. Medium to small sized. I like it. See the video for how it sounds.
