Product Pin Diagram Paxcounter is an ESP32 MCU based device for metering passenger flows in realtime. It counts how many mobile devices are around. This gives an estimation how many people are around. Paxcounter detects Wifi and Bluetooth signals in the air, focusing on mobile devices by evaluating their MAC adresses. Intention of this project is to do this without intrusion in privacy: You don't need to track people owned devices, if you just want to count them. Then I tried firmware-tbeam-2.1.23.04bbdc6, but after the setup I got a Critical Fault #6. 4. Tried the other board, same result 5. At this point, I was very close to send the boards back. But I started to wonder that maybe the video is wrong and the boards are OK. 6. Long story short, this device is sometimes referred as "Lilygo Lora", sometimes as "Lilygo TTGO Lora V2.1-1.6" and the right firmware is: firmware-tlora-v2-1-1.6-X.X.X.xxxxxxx.bin In hindsight, I can see that the video was made for a "related product". Anyway, adding a few lines to the description would have saved me (and probably for others too) some time. However, the product works and it does what it supposed to do. I especially like the on-board on/off mini slide switch that controls whether battery voltage is applied or not, i.e., you don't need an external power switch to keep it from running continuously if a battery is connected. Looks like you won't be able to charge the battery, though. FYI, there is a trick to use the SD card as well. You need to manually deselect the LoRa chip (18 HIGH) then manually select the card reader (13 LOW). Seems you can't use both at the same time. At least the one I got. **Q: Can both the board sma and u.fl connector used for the antenna?** A: Both SMA and U.FlL antennas are suitable for this product, but they cannot be used at the same time. By default, this product uses SMA antenna. I prefer this board over my Heltec one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Flashing Problem *by R***D on August 15, 2025* Finally got it to work. First tried web flasher with Lilygo T-Lora T3-S3 type device, but it went dead. Had to erase_flash wih esptool. Next tried Lilygo T-Lora V2.1_1.6; that worked, and able to conffig via bluetooth and Mestatic Web client. Rokland has a good pdf on this device.
