Generic Belt Replacement Change Tool for Dyson Vacuum Cleaners

So, I have the worlds strongest hands. I mean when it comes to hands, there's me, and then there's Sasquatch. Anyhow, I've done a lot of work over the years to our Dyson DC14, to keep it running like new. That's meant a fair bit of fiddling with the belts, brushes, clutch, etc here and there and keeping up on the filters. This kit was great for me, because I unfortunately have a tendency to OVER pull on these belts, and I've actually broken one (snapped right off on my pointer finger) before. I actually bought this kit for the 90 degree hand tool, not the cage piece, and as hoped for, I found it really helpful on the clutch replacement side in regard to adding some "finesse" to the operation. I was able to fairly easily get the belt over the clutch capstan, as well, yank the main brush drive belt up and around the roller with minimal issue. In the past, I'd done this replacement totally by hand, and like I said, was a little TOO rough with the belts and surrounds in 1 case. Whether you're got strong paws, or not so much, this kit is great, and the cage surround (used to expand and elevate the belt is perfect for someone (with not so strong hands) who needs to take the belt 1 section at a time, as opposed to 1 massive pull and go. It's a well built tool set, and I can see using the 90 tool for several other applications outside just this fix. For the low LOW price, I was very happy with the kit and highly recommend it if you're getting into the clutch on these older Dysons.

This is a MUST HAVE if you are working on a Dyson DC14 vacuum cleaner. If you are replacing belts, a clutch assembly of just the beater brushes, this makes getting the belt off much easier. It's still not easy by any stretch of the imagination, but not as hard as doing this with screw drivers. Well worth the money!

I finally managed to get it to work. It required a significant effort to stretch the belt around the device's legs. There is no place to set the device onto the brush housing to keep it from constantly slipping off. As it doesn't, it took several attempts to lift the belt onto the legs. As a senior woman, I would not have been able to accomplish this without the belt change device. The belt change device is made of steel and is sturdy. Although it provides some relief, you need a great degree of human agency. In humor, I needed to rest after using it. I highly recommend it. It did indeed make the belt change manageable.

I was doing some repair and replacement of parts on my old Dyson upright, and I purchased this "tool" along with a new clutch. Everything went well until it came to the final step of getting the new belt onto the rotating brush bar. I couldn't hold the tool down firmly enough and still try to stretch the new belt to reach the prongs on the tool ( I'm an old woman, so there's that). I also could not do it without the tool. I finally had to give in and take the Dyson to a repair shop. I showed the guy that all I needed was for him to replace the brush bar under the new belt. I asked him if he wanted to use the tool, and keep it, because I had no use for it. He took the tool and the vacuum to a back room. In a few minutes he came out with the task completed and a bleeding finger! The tool had broken in two and injured his finger. He ultimately replaced the bar another way. Fortunately, he was good natured about it and we tossed the broken tool in the garbage. It wasn't worth returning and I only had to pay $45 for the labor, so I'm happy with a "nearly new" Dyson that works great.

First things first - the product description mentions it's made of synthetic material. I was thinking plastic, or similar. This thing is steel. I was pleased when it arrived due to its weight. Had a chance to use it with my DC-07. It still takes some effort but is doable. Unfortunately, I discovered that I also have to replace the clutch in this vacuum. The roller does not turn when on carpet setting. I can turn the brush by hand. Oh well! At least I have the tool now for when I go to replace the clutch.

I found it was still as hard to get that belt over the part as it was without it. It's a nice idea but you have to stretch the belt so far, this thing was close to useless. You can do the same thing with a screwdriver and your fingers. Lots of you tube videos on how to do it. I wish I hadn't bought it. Yes it's nice and solid and with some sweat and cursing and patience, it does what it's supposed to. But so does a big screwdriver and about the same amount of sweat, cursing, and patience.

If your Dyson needs a new clutch and/or belt (if you replace one, I strongly advise replacing both), buy this inexpensive, well-designed tool - I promise, you'll be very thankful you did! This tool pays for itself, period. Using this and the belt + clutch kit, I repaired our faithful DC33 in around 10 minutes for roughly $40. It runs like new, quite literally! Initially, I hesitated to buy this tool, thinking I could save a few dollars. After reading every review here, and watching some Dyson repair videos, I decided to follow most people's advice and ordered this tool set. They were undoubtedly correct! I can't imagine how frustrating it would have been to attempt this repair without this tool. Something about "monkeys" and "footballs" comes to mind... ASIDE: It took around 30 minutes to take the vacuum apart. This was, by FAR, the lengthier part of the clutch repair. Bear in mind, I'd never done this before; I could easily do it now in under 5 minutes! I was running back and forth between the garage (where I was working on the vacuum) and the computer (where I was watching an instructional video on YT on how to disassemble the vacuum.) I also didn't have readily at hand the necessary extension ( a long, narrow bit extender for my drill) for the one, deep screw that requires it. Otherwise, I was able to disassemble the entire vacuum with 3 common screwdrivers (a Phillips, a large Flathead, and a Torx, the number of which I can't recall.) There are plenty of very helpful videos on YT, and with proper preparation, anyone can do this cheap and simple repair. Good luck!

So...I wanted to replace the brush on my Dyson DC07. The new belt is extremely tight (it was a bear to get the original brush back on). This time I decided to get a belt removal tool to make this job easier. I decided to save a few bucks and get a generic belt remover; their just pieces of steel...right). Wrong. I watched a tutorial on how to use this as there was no instructions...no big deal. When I try to put the first belt part on one of the prongs (there are two), the prong broke off! First time. So now I had to enlist my wife to help get the brush replaced. What a chore. You will save some money on the purchase but it's not worth it. You really need a good tool.
