Review: One of the better Cartooning Books on the market. - My artist daughter loves this book and picks it up almost daily when she has a paper and pencil at hand. Review: Approachable and instructive guide for aspiring artists! - I really enjoyed this drawing book, from the beautiful illustrations to the helpful and accessible guides. This is a book that would be great for beginner and intermediate artists, particularly those who want to create their own cartoon characters or who find drawing people to be intimidating. It focuses on breaking down your subject into basic shapes, which is a fundamental skill that artists will benefit from beyond the scope of this book. Some of my favorite sections were on hands and putting it all together to make your own unique characters, which can be really difficult to do on your own but are explained in a clear and approachable way. The book is full of beautiful and charming illustrations of different characters and scenes that the reader can aspire to draw, and it was great to see so many diverse people in the examples, too! The writing was thoughtful and friendly in tone, and not only coaches the reader through the step-by-step guides but gives helpful tips to avoid frustration (which not enough drawing guides do, considering how it's a common feeling for many artists!). This is a wonderful guide that can either introduce someone to important fundamentals or expand on a growing artist's skills and knowledge. Highly recommend!

Decidedly the best how-to book yet!
As the child of an artist, I grew up surrounded by art books of various kinds - instructional aids, cartooning how-to’s, and artist retrospectives - but struggled to find a voice of my own. In this book, at long last, I’ve found a remedy to approach drawing in a way both educational and uniquely personal. I’m so in awe of the punchiness, stylistic integrity, and incredible approachability that I decided to write my first Amazon review for what I’ve decided is the best how-to book yet. I can’t imagine that all ages and shapes of life wouldn’t gain incredible joy and instruction from this book. Huge support and celebration is deserved for this being in the canon of art literature!

This book is fabulous!
I am an art teacher, and I use how to draw books for my students. My students love this book! The book breaks down images so that students can understand how to start, then clearly shows steps to add details. The hands section is especially helpful. My students have found many different pages that they can personally relate to. I highly recommend it.
