I'm very happy with these! The 3" width is a big improvement over the narrower ones I had before. These are substantial -- not light. The coarse one functions very well as a dressing tool for my synthetic water stones.

I love this product the UPS lost my first package but the owner gladly helped me out and even had the curtesy to reach out to me about the product. This item is really awesome, it sharpens your blades immediately. No time or money wasted, if anything it’s completely worth the investment to keep not only your knives sharp but tools and all sorts of metal that falls in the category of maintianing. This item comes with three stones and three different grits, and it works really good. At first it’s stiff and may scratch the coating or blade a bit but overall the blade ends up sharp enough to shave your arm and you won’t ever have to use a normal stone again. If your looking for something cheaper, just do what I did and save up your money and buy this and I swear this will really last you longer than any other one. Trust me you’ll love it. You’re probably here because you’re starting to get serious about sharpening. If you’re like me, you’ve struggled for years with stones, plate glass, sandpaper, honing jigs, etc. If I could go back to my journeyman days, I’d tell myself: “just get the diamond plates, dummy”. Worth every penny, don’t bother trying to save a few bucks here and there by piecing together a set, just bite the bullet and buy yourself the optimal lifetime sharpening solution. PROS: - waaaaay less maintenance than stones or sandpaper - waaaaay faster - results are easily as sharp or sharper - will last you probably forever, hope to pass these on to my grandkids - doubles as lapping plates for stones - this seller is bona fide, will answer the phone, and is committed to the product and service CONS: - might seem spendy at first. Believe me, it’s not, stop wasting time and energy and shortcut straight to the ultimate solution EXTRA: - comes with a holder/base - comes with very useful info sheets - plates are 8 x 3, watch out for cheaper plates that are 6 x 2, you don’t want those - rule of thumb, double grit each pass of sharpening, 300/600/1200 is perfect - still have my 5000, 8000, strop and compound for final finishing BOTTOM LINE: - if you want to sharpen way better, way faster, and way easier, this is for you - if you enjoy struggling and wasting time with poor results, than this is not for you

I initially experienced some frustration trying to use these stones / plates. I was trying to sharpen a very cheap Harbor Freight plane iron to break in the plates and just couldn't get it to abrade on the coarse stone. As a last ditch effort, I sent an email to Best Sharpening Stones, the seller, and they got back to me the very same day. Even asked if I would send a phone number so they could call me. They also provided some details and information on sharpening that helped me out a ton. Really excellent customer service experience for me. I couldn't recommend them enough. Even if you're not going to buy these diamond plates, but some other sort of sharpening stone, I would definitely recommend you buy from this company. After I received a bit more instruction and a bit more information, the stones really started working much better. The issue was user error and knowledge based as opposed to product based. Mine were very flat and consistent out of the box. No issues with fit or finish there. Nice weight, decent little holder for the stones and they seem to work quite well. I'm no expert, but they're definitely a step up from the smaller composite DMT "stones" I had purchased before. I wish I'd just gone with these stones from Best Sharpening earlier. Live and learn.
