But Big Brother is cunning: Instead of appearing in the form of an omnipresent party, he now appears disguised as the ultimate freedom fighter - the Internet. The party is replaced by 4-5 dominant companies, and they eat inside people's minds just as effectively as the party's telescreens or terror threats. Reading it after witnessing the American insurrection of January 6 and the continuous peddling of lies about electoral fraud which, despite any factual evidence, is gaining traction and influence in is an amazing testimony of George Orwell's insight into the human mind - it's fallacies and ease of being impressed. His description of the use of war, and investment in weapons, as a way of oppressing people by shifting GNP into destructive powers is a masterpiece of its own.
