Review: Very happy with these monitors! - I'm a Dj and was looking for bigger monitors for my home studio.I already own Presonus Eris E5's(which I recently used at a small house party mixing reggae dancehall and hip hop with no problems whatsoever. Many attendees commented on how good the music sounded.) Love those but wanted something with a fuller sound for a home practice studio. KRK Rokit E8's seem to be the choice for DJ's. But when I auditioned these next to the E8's, to my ears the Eris 8's were the hands down winners! Much richer and fuller sound. The bass was tighter and punchier while having the highs and mids right there! I even think my Eris E5's sound better than the Rokit 8's. Anyway, After purchasing the Eris 8's and bringing them home, my audition assessment was confirmed. These sound fantastic! My home studio now rocks! I also have the Presonus temblor T10's(fantastic sub). Paired with the Eris 8's you won't be disappointed. The build quality is excellent. These baby's are heavy and feel great just taking them out of the box. Hook up is a breeze with RCA, TRS and XLR inputs. I use XLR passed thru the subwoofer with the crossover set to 100. I'm still tinkering around with my final setting but these sound very good right out of the box. My Eris E5's sounded bright out of the box but broke in nicely after about 40hrs of use. Looking forward to seeing how these will progress. I'll follow up after about 100 hours or so. Lastly, love the cool blue light on the front of each monitor. My only minor gripe is I wish the power switch was in the front to make on/off transition easier instead of having to reach behind the speaker. Luckily, because of their placement it's not too much of a hassle.
Review: WOW! From and so called Audiophile. - I rarely write reviews but I just received these and hooked them up into my seating room and a scarlett solo and all I can say is WOW! As a 20 year audiophile I am very critical to detail and over the years I have found that studio monitors are more tailored to my taste as details is more inportant to me than smootheness. And for $250 for a pair and $100 for the solo DAC i prefer to listen to these over my 8k B&W and NAD system. I dont know how or why I just do. I just bought a second set for my PC. Also Id like to note that compared to my JBL 305 studio monitors these sound much better to my ears.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The E8 is Quirky, but good. The RCA input SUCKS. Avoid using it.
*by D***. on October 17, 2019*

I'll admit it. When I first set them up I was pissed. These are going to be driven by my TV for the rest of their lives, and when I connected the RCA jack in the back to my TV they sounded like tinny crap for a studio monitor. Luckily, I had a ground loop that I couldn't fix with better cables, so I ran a super short RCA cable to an RCA to XLR transformer I had and sent them a balanced input (XLR) to cancel the ground loop. In a word, the difference was Whoa! I actually skimmed the manual before I set them up. The Rice Dressing recipe at the back looks interesting, and I'll probably make it later. More to the point - I didn't see a discussion on input impedance. I'm guessing the RCA impedance on the input is seriously mismatched to the TV, and as such all the bass gets lost in the signal. I'm willing to bet plenty of people have given these poor reviews and returned them while only connecting with the RCA input. I was ready too. I haven't run a spectrum on them, but my ears are pretty good. With a flat EQ they are bright above about 4k. Moving the high dial down 2 notches (-2dB??) levels them out to me. There's a weird kinda hump right at about 30Hz, where's I'd say they go positive about 3dB relative to the rest of the spectrum, and then a depression right after it from about 40Hz to about 55Hz probably about -3dB as well. This is very likely a side effect of the front facing bass port, that below the resonant frequency of the port acts constructively with the bass cone, and above it acts destructively, and then at higher frequencies becomes solid. I'm guessing they did that so that they can push down the flat through 3dB range (the 35Hz - 20kHz quote) to 35Hz like they did. I guess going above it works too, but it would have been nice to put in an dial to fix it. I mean, they've got EQ happening all over the place everywhere else, a dial or two more and boom - flat as a pancake. Before you think it's just the room they're in. I highly doubt that. My M-Audio BX8a's (40Hz - 20kHz) sound heavier than these and don't have a weird bulge and dip around there in the same room with very similar placement(s). One thing I did notice with the 'near field' thing was that it looks like they try and design placement into the setup. What I mean by that is when I had them hooked up with the RCA jacks and I laid on the floor about 5 ft away from them the bass filled in noticeably. It's possible that when they sit on a desk and are close to you the bulge and dip thing is less noticeable, but I haven't tested it. All in they are a great value for money. If they were the same price as a set of BX8a's would I buy the E8's instead? - absolutely not. Their tonal separation is very good, but not exceptional. They are clear and don't bend the sound image as you change the output levels (as after 3 hours of testing I'm noticing I've kept turning up the volume and not realizing it and now that it's off my ears are noticeably tired. It's a high quality problem.) The bass bulge and dip is annoying, but livable. They are excellent for home theater use, but I WOULDN'T use them for DAW work unless I could EQ out the bass thing somehow.
