The tone is excellent and the projection is awesome. I recently played an outdoor wedding, unaccompanied, and was told the sound resonated well to the back of the crowd and even around the neighborhood. I'm not 100% sold on the steel E string which is why I gave only 4 stars (I'd give 4.5 if they'd let me). The E is nice, but is a bit "tinny" (not surprising since it's plain steel) which has taken me a little while to get used to. The longer I play with it the better it gets, but I may end up experimenting a bit more to find my perfect E string. I'd definitely recommend these strings for solo performers, though every instrument is different and you may need to experiment with strings before finding the perfect fit for your instrument and playing style.
