Great product for the money. Not very thick but it is very sturdy. My niece wanted a treasure so I purchased this and 2 orders of 35 XL metal pirate coins and they only filled up the very bottom. So I had to add a lot more just to fill it up. It has been dropped while it was full and did not break so it is pretty sturdy. I just wish the latch was different.

Chest looks very nice. It is the perfect container to hold all my gaming dice, it looks like something out of a fantasy castle. I had them in several plastic tubs before that I stuck in the closet, this is sitting on a shelf. It should hold up well for what I plan to do with it, leave it on the shelf. I would not recommend carrying it around or giving it to a child. It is a fancy item, not a rugged one. For the price I am very happy with the little chest.

Summery: +Great value for the price +Looks fantastic +Likely easy to improve with minimal crafting skill -Out of the box, the sturdiness is lacking (but you get more than what you pay for) -Don't let anything heavy fall on the lid--this is a decorative item, not a steamer trunk I bought this chest to hold a movie prop replica. And for around $20, I was expecting something a lot less sturdy. It's by no means perfect in that department--it's wholly decorative. But to that end, it's more than adequate. Just don't expect it to travel well with other heavier items. The value comes in just how good it looks combined with how well it's been put together. It feels light-duty, but all the hardware is nice and secure. You could easily spend $50 for something that compares to this. The thickness of the wood panels leaves something to be desired, however. The front, back, and side panels are all 1/4" thick plywood, with and 1/8" piece acting as a lip. With the face of the lid being a sheet of veneer that's only around 1/16" thick. And while there's a fairly sturdy slat of 1/4" (maybe 3/8"?) ply running along the inside of the lid, the majority of the lid surface just doesn't feel sturdy at all. Though any half decent woodworker could very easily shore it up with some 1/4" slats, however!
