I had a need for a lightweight, decent quality and affordable optic. This is a good one. I have an astigmatism in both eyes, so I see the red dot and a bit of a snowflake effect. This defect of the eyes has not stopped proper operation of the AT3 optic. I can still hit on target at various ranges. Funny enough... if you turn down the brightness on the optic, the effect of the astigmatism decreases. Myself and my mother have it, but my father and two sisters do not. I could not detect any parallax, being trained years ago at my job to spot it. If you look at the optic and shake your head left and right somewhat quickly, that red dot would dance around if there was severe parallax. The dot remains on the target as I bring my eyes up to it. I can't really say what brightness I use it at- I dial it in if I have time to about what feels comfortable for my eye. One feature I really like is that I can "half turn" the brightness dial to turn the optic off, then repeat the process to get the desired number intensity that I want. I use the bikini covers when I can, but not often. I've misplaced one of the turret caps, but that is my fault. That turret has held up just fine. After purchasing the optic, I noticed that the sales description did not state whether the optic would take the recoil from a 12 gauge shotgun. I got a fast response from the company: "Yes, it will take the recoil of a 12-gauge". So on the shotgun it goes! I have not noticed a loss of zero, even on a Keltec Sub 2000. I have a second unit for another long gun and would consider this affordable option for future needs. I happen to like these tubed, 20mm to 25mm red dots. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice simple red dot *by D***G on April 24, 2026* I picked this optic up recently for an airsoft AKS-74U I was working on and I am pretty pleased with it. The brightness knob is a bit stiff but has very good range: unlike others I've owned you actually get some 'dim' options here rather than just 'bright' to 'blindingly bright' - this makes it great for use indoors or in dark environments! The lens coating is fantastic, cuts reflections but does not 'dim' your view to much - again, for indoors and dim environments, that makes this is an outstanding option. There is the unfortunate 'blob' at ~5 o'clock on the back lens as other's have noted: this is where the LED emitter is installed and the factory glues them in place for added strength/stability/shock-resistance - with the unfortunate side effect of an unsightly blob that sits on the lower edge of your vision. After using the optic for more than 15 minutes, I stopped noticing it - it's not an issue. The adjustment dials have very nice detents although it would have been neat if the caps had a little raised ridge on the top so they could be used to make adjustments in the field without requiring a separate tool. Overall I've like to give the optic a 4.5 - it's really nice in a lot of ways, but it's also an old design and as such is lacks some nice-to-have features that appear on similarly priced modern designs.
