SmallRig LED Video Light

Professional lighting for cameras that dont have an electrical connection for flash attachments (cold shoe vs hot shoe). Way better, more features, brighter and worth it over those cheaper lights available right now. SmallRig is a great company. Hope they stay in buisness for years to come.

Very impressed. Seems to be very high quality, Very cool case to hold it all in, way more than I expected for the price. Lot's of gel's, barn door, diffusers (one gel, one silicone) snoot, grid, etc. Much brighter than I thought it would be. On high, can be used as a video light.

I find myself not using these all that much now. I bought 3 of them and the plastic frame used to attach all the accessories all broke within days of each other. So, I have no way to attach all of these accessories that come with the lights. To be frank, it was sort of a pain to have to use them anyway since it was not easy to unsnap the frame from the body of the light. Adjusting the light intensity seem to cause an unnecessary amount of pressure and there was no sort of tactile indication for the power button. In other words, I often had to physically pick the light up to remind myself and visually see where the power button was to adjust the light intensity. This is very inconvenient when you have multiple of these set up and have to go to each one to find that button. The battery life is short. I felt myself under a lot of pressure to rush my photo sessions before the power ran out of the light. They do come with a lot of nice accessories such as color gels, diffusers, honeycomb and barn doors, etc,. For the price, I was actually quite happy with the amount and type of accessories. Update: I am updating my review after some brief contact with Smallrig. Smallrig made everything right immediately for me which I greatly appreciate. It is great that I don't have to resort to buying the next lighting option for me which would cost me about twice the price of these SmallRig Mini LEDs to do the same job. Smallrig stands by their products and I am impressed. I have many photography accessories including other products made by SmallRig. All of my other SmallRig products have been of high quality from day one including their Pix M160 LED panel lights which have been my main work horses for my photography lighting for a while now. It is great that I can continue to use these SmallRig MIni LED lights as intended for my shoots.

For $40 you get the light and all the accessories too. Build quality surprised me, nothing about it feels cheap. The light is even and easy to adjust, and I had it figured out right away. It’s small, so it lives in my bag now. Good pick whether you’re new to macro or you’ve been doing it a while.

Love the set. I use it to light scenes of miniatures (Warhammer, the like) and take photos of them with various effects. The three lights allow for pretty much any lighting needed and the attachments (magnetic) turn them into small stage lights, allow for colored lights, spots, etc. Pretty much anything big lights do, but for ~1/56 scale. I would wish for a little better ability to dim the lights. 3 levels can be chosen from, but lack the flexibility I would like. The stands/tripods area little oversized for the set, I think, and the hotshoe connectors, while lower are inflexible, so sometimes creativity is needed when lighting a scene at this scale. Would absolutely recommend, though.

I wasn’t expecting these to be as solid as they are. Each light feels sturdy and well made, and they put out a lot more brightness than I thought something this small could. The color looks clean and even, and all three lights match perfectly, which is nice when you’re lighting a small scene. Battery life is decent — I get about an hour or so at half power — and they charge up pretty quick with USB-C. The mounts and little accessories make them super easy to stick anywhere or angle just right. I’ve used them for product shots and a bit of video, and they’ve been great for both. The carrying case is a nice touch too — keeps everything together and easy to grab. Overall, it’s just a really handy, well-thought-out kit that feels worth the price. If you do any filming, photos, or just want better lighting for your desk setup, this set is a great option.

My AI says I need a true plug-in clunker of a key light for my mobile content creation setup. Pffft. This smallrig light could sit atop one of those annoyingly bright LED loving trokonas and blind unsuspecting drivers. It works fabulously for what it is intended which is to banish shadows and illuminate my content creator world.

I received these lights today from amazon. Awesome kit. None of the magnets are any good . Not a single one.

Using currently on the One X2. Great light, many filters, quick and easy to put on and off. Would love for this to have worked on the smallrig cage but as per other review, cage was defective.
