Keep Clear Headlight Coating

Great value & results. Must be reapplied within 2 years in the California sun. Highly effect, economical clear spray that makes headlight lenses look factory new. Requires: wet-or-dry sandpaper grits 400, 1000 & 2000, silicone-free polish, masking tape and something to protect the adjacent areas.

I grabbed this Meguiar’s spray for my 2012 Subaru because the plastic lenses were starting to haze after a lot of trailhead parking in full sun. I did a quick clean in my driveway, then hit each headlight with a light coat before a Saturday hike. Took maybe ten minutes. By the time i tossed my pack in the car, it was dry and looked nice and glossy. A month later, after dusty forest roads and a rainy night drive back from the mountains, the lights still look clear and bright. I’m especially glad how it makes the evening drive home feel safer. One small can goes pretty far too, which was a nice little bonus.

Still driving home at 7am after night shift, so I bought this to keep my 2012 Corolla headlights from going cloudy again. Last time I polished them they got hazy in a month and it drove me nuts on the dark freeway. This spray goes on fast. I just cleaned the lights, shook the can, did a light coat, waited, then a second one. They looked shiny right away and two months of graveyard shifts later, theyre still clear. I like that I dont need a whole kit out on the street, just this little can and a towel.

Good stuff! Not much for the price but don need alot to get the job done. Tell you in a year of it works as advertised.

This stuff ended up being for my little home-office car runs more than anything. I work from home and park in the driveway, so my car bakes in the sun all day while i’m inside on Zoom. The headlights were starting to haze and made late Costco runs annoying. I cleaned them up once, then used this Meguiar’s coating right after. Quick spray, wipe, done. Next evening drive, the lights looked way clearer on my usual Target run and I could actually see better on the side streets. It’s been a few months and they still look good, which honestly made me glad I didn’t pay a shop for this. The can is small but it goes a long way.

You don't have to buy a fancy ceramic graphene ultraclear ultimate whatever kit to do this stuff. PROCESS is more important than PRODUCT. That said, get some sandpaper, I personally like to buy the assortments of 2 inch sanding pads that run from about 400 grit on up to 3500. For this headlight, which was pretty heavily cracked over and yellowed, I started at 600, then 1000, then 1500, then 2500, then 3500. I probably could have done an even better job by including the 800, 2000, and 3000 grits, but I didn't want to take three hours to do it.Then get yourself a spray bottle of soapy water, I used about 4 ounces of Dawn in 32 ounces of water because I had it handy. Clay bar lube might actually be better here, but I don't have any of that. You'll want to use this not only to lube the surface so you don't leave gouges in the headlight, but also to rinse off all the particles of yellowed oxidized headlight coating you're removing to expose the clear plastic under it.Sand in one direction first, say horizontal. When you rinse and change to the next grade of sandpaper, switch to vertical. If you have a heavily curved light, you might want to work in an X pattern instead. Do what works best for your shape of headlight and try to use even pressure especially on the earlier rougher grits.Once you have finished sanding and have a nice clear but cloudy headlight, make sure it's fully rinsed and dried and no powder or particles of coating remain. Then tape off the surrounding area (if you didn't remove the whole light assembly like I did) and begin spraying in light coats by starting to spray off to the left side of the headlight then spraying evenly across left to right, not letting go of the sprayer until you're aimed off the light to its right. Try to overlap a little bit as you spray lines across the headlight. Once the whole headlight has a coat on, wait a few minutes to let it get tacky. Your SECOND coat will be exactly the same way but a little bit heavier on the coating. If this looks good, you can stop. If you think it needs a third coat, go ahead, but make it a little bit heavier.It is March 2025 now and the lights look as good as the day I did them October 2024. That's five months of Oklahoma red dirt, gravel dust, high winds, snow and ice for a couple days which was weird, and all the crud getting kicked up off the road by the jacked up coal rolling diesel trucks that pepper every road around here. Still feels smooth to the touch as well.Now what did I say about saving money? Right, this may be $14 right now but it goes on sale enough. $9-$10 is an OK price for this. You'll get to use it multiple times or for multiple vehicles if stored properly. Between that and some sanding pads and a spray bottle of soapy water, you'll be saving quite a bit and won't have a bunch of garbage to get rid of when you're done for some sort of single use product that costs more anyhow. Does it take longer? Yes. Is it worth it? If you like keeping money in your wallet, yes. If you enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done, yes. If you don't want to pay Walmart $30 per headlight to do it for you and have it look terrible in two months again, tes.

One of those random late night buys after i saw a video of someone restoring cloudy headlights. I grabbed this to protect the minivan lights after my husband polished them. First good thing, it goes on fast. I just shook the can, did a light sweep across each headlight, and they looked nicely glossy right away. I could still wrangle my toddler while doing it, so that was a win. The downside, the smell is pretty strong, so I had to do it in the driveway with the kids inside and windows open. Also, after a couple months of school drop offs and grocery runs, the shine faded a bit quicker than I hoped.

I bought this for my 10 year old Honda because the headlights were starting to look hazy and i drive a lot at night after late meetings. The coating itself goes on pretty easily. I did the cleaning and sanding kit first, then used this to seal everything. After a week of commuting and a rainy weekend, the lenses still look way clearer and the light output is better.One thing that bugged me, the nozzle spits a bit if youre not careful, so i got a couple tiny drips and had to wipe and redo a spot. Use good lighting and take your time. I’d still use it again before paying a shop.

The product did a great job of finishing off the headlight restoration. After using various sanding grades, the clear coat brought the headlights back to a clear shine. I found this much easier to use than a paint-on or wipe-on clear coat. The result was as excellent with no streaks.

This is a clear coat, uv protection spray. You first have to sand and polish your headlights if they are faded/dull. Use only one coat, not two for clearer results. All headlights eventually fade due to sun damage.

I had purchased this product over a year ago, though never got around to using it until this week, so shelf life doesn’t seem to be an issue.This product has been easy to use with clear instructions for proper use, dries quick, and has left my headlights clearer than the day I drove the car off the lot. This finish sadly isn’t rated to last very long at only one year, but the can has enough sealant for multiple applications. Overall I am satisfied with how good this made my headlights look, I believe the photos speak for themselvesUpdate: It's been about 4 years since I applied this headlight clearcoat and the headlights just started getting foggy and oxidized again during this last winter. My car spends 99% of it's life outside, so for this clearcoat that's rated for only a single year to last this long is very impressive. Will be buying this again
