I’ve got an i9-10920x cpu.** A: No. The only key that works on the X299 is the Intel only key. You can do RAID 0 without a key with Intel drives and it is bootable. The Intel key allows RAID 1,5 and 10 and again only with Intel drives. I am using 670p's as my VROC drives. You could use disk management to make a striped raid in Windows with any drives but it is not bootable. So if you want it bootable it will have to be with Intel. You can raid the 980's in windows as a data drive though. **Q: Will this allow for raid 5 on a non xeon computer with a 3rd party ssd?** A: Yes, but the 3+ SSDs have to be connected to PCIe lanes directly from the CPU. Make sure the motherboard supports this and the CPU has enough PCIe to support it. The higher end Core X series should have enough PCIe.
