## Description

From a Galaxy far-out and away, an underground Sci-Fi classic from the 70's is back. This set of 50 Tim Mee GALAXY LASER TEAM with SPACE MONSTERS figure set is proudly manufactured in the United States, and includes 24 black and 24 silver gray figures along with 2 small space fighters for maximum play value. All your old favorites are here, including turtle-lobster alien, space-sasquatch alien, classic serial space hero, mailbox-shaped droid, sword-wielding villain, 2 Mercury era astronauts, and even the heroine with her trusty computer console. Figures stand up to 2.25 inches tall and are approximately 1:35 scale. X-wing rockets are 3.75 inches long and smaller scale. Made from slightly flexible LDPE plastic with medium detail and very little flashing. Originally produced by Processed Plastic (Tim Mee's parent company) around 1978, they were also branded as STAR PATROL with X-WING ROCKET and OUTER SPACE FIGHTERS. These figures celebrate a funky mash-up of space movie characters from the old black and white serials to that famous space opera in a galaxy far-far away. For the Team's triumphant return to production, the manufacturer restored the vintage TIM MEE TOYS logo that hadn't been seen on the shelves for decades. This reissue features the classic black of vintage sets along with a brand new silver-gray color. Also new for 2017 is an all new sticker sheet to dress up your star fighters. These are real plastic heroes and villains, meant to be set up, knocked down, picked up and played with for many years to come. Packed in plastic bag with header card and recommended for ages 5 and up.

Review: Classic space opera toy of yesteryear! - These great non-posable space figures are back in production after their heyday in the early 80s. Back then, they also came packaged under the name "Star Patrol". They're equal in sculpt quality to little green army men and just plain fun! They were originally meant to be quasi-rip-offs of Star Wars characters, but their retro designs are beyond kitsch now and they really do have a lot of personality. These were cheap knock-offs to Star Wars figures that have a lot of sandbox-playability. These days, they're pulling guard duty on my desk. Some data on the new set: --Includes 8 characters (2 each; 1 grey, 1 black) and one x-wing looking spaceship* (2 each; 1 grey, 1 black) --All characters are about 2" tall --*The spaceships are about 3" long and come unassembled as top and bottom pieces that can be swapped to make monochromatic or two-tone variations - they look like traditional US F-16 fighter jets with spread apart "x-wings" like the iconic ships from Star Wars --Made of firmer/harder plastic than the old sets (I have a few older figures still and they're a bit softer) --Figures are in scale with 90% of the generic green army men figures you see everywhere I've taken some guesses as to the Star Wars/sci-fi equivalents their likenesses are meant to parallel: --Alien space yeti with antenna - Chewbacca from Star Wars --Helmeted spaceman with raygun - Buck Rogers of the 30s and 40s --Woman with computer - Lt. Uhura from the original Star Trek --Square, 2-legged robot - R2-D2 from Star Wars --Helmeted warlord with space sword - Darth Vader from Star Wars --Alien space turtle - No clue, he's just a weird one (Godzilla's pal Gamera maybe?) --Two generic Apollo-era astronauts, one carrying an oxygen tank and hose (I think of him more of a "space janitor" with vacuum cleaner), the other a tape recorder or tricorder device. Great fun for a few bucks!
Review: Welcome Back to Earth Old Friends - I had these in the early 80s, albeit in more colors (pink, green, white and blue), and loved them as a kid. I had a few originals scattered around which my six-year-old son would play with from time to time, but now he can appreciate the full line of figures thanks to this brilliant reissue. The figures are sturdy and the molds are fantastic, so kudos for restoring the original tooling. Side by side with my originals, I can't see any real differences (other than my old ones being scratched or broken that is). If you loved these as a kid, you will certainly enjoy these. Not sure how today's kids will appreciate such basic figures (my son is unique in his appreciation for the old toys his Dad played with at his age), but it is certainly worth grabbing a bag for Easter baskets or stocking stuffers (that is how mine always arrived). A great, simple old toy that most of us took for granted until we lost our old ones. Nice to see they still make toys in America too, so support your local manufacturers. Would love to see a few more runs in other colors to compliment these. Great set.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Blast from the Past
*by J***T on August 12, 2013*

Having recently bought my kid a set of Pirates vs. Skeletons, Amazon's automatic "suggestion engine" produced this item. I was somewhat taken aback, as I realized I had these toys as a child myself, and had not seen them in some 35 years. They are basically plastic army men but fashioned in a sci-fi motif. As these came out in the heyday of the original 70's Star Wars film, there are some figures inspired by this, particularly a wookie-type creature with antennas to disguise the inspiration. There are also robots, crab/turtle creatures, an R2D2 type robot and even a couple of X-wings (or X shaped fighters) If your child enjoys playing with army men, these will probably be enjoyed. My only complaint would be the color scheme. As a kid, the original manufacturing of these toys was in bright green and red. These reissues are a dull gray and black. This is a real nitpick though and I am glad to see this set available again for kids. Retro fun for all.
