I used these on a bead lathe so they felt oversized but that is because I used them on a bead lathe. You can see the size difference in the photo. That being said they were sharp out the box, no burs and good finish on the steel, handles felt secure and have a good weight for the tool. They have a short blade, I would imagine this is for a few reasons, one being the tool should never be that far from the rest and the longer handle gives more control when doing the 'turners dance' . I always feel in control of the tool and it cuts fine with very little catches, I've not used a lathe in 2r years so I would imagine that was me. In short I reccomend these tools to anyone looking into turning. Good thickness, really good handles for control and no bother to use. With a lifetime guarantee to boot well worth it
