You have to immerse the whetstone into the water for 20 minutes prior to use. **Q: What degree is the angle guide?** A: The recommended angle is 15-20 degrees. **Q: Are these sharpening stones for knives made of aluminum oxide?** A: Our Whetstone Sharpening Kit is made of Aluminum Oxide. **Q: Is it safe to storage it in water? So it can be always ready for sharpening?** A: Do not store in water, it'll degrade. I bought mine last year. It only take say 5 minutes to soak under water & bubble out the air. If you're knife isn't damaged or pitted and you just need to fine-tune the blade, you're using the 6000 stone. If your knife is really beat up and the blade is chunky/spikey, use the 1000 stone. When I'm done sharpening, I take the stone out of the wooden holder and let it drip dry on a rack over a towel. Takes about 30 minutes, to an hour and that's no big deal. When I store it I take a paper towel or newspaper page, wrap the stone, put it back into the wooden holder and put the whole thing back into your kitchen cabinet. That's it. It's corundum so obviously nowhere near as hard as diamond stones. It developed small scratches/gouges in the surface quickly. The training guide is also quite useless as its too wide for small knives and not long enough for larger knives. And it scratches up the whetstone. My whetstone also didn't fit inside the rubber foot AND the bamboo tray at the same time so I only could use the rubber foot.
